Where's the header for the door? I wonder why they didn't complete it before raising the wall?

They are pre-cutting everything, so there is a method to their madness. Pretty impressive to watch these guys build.

So more action. Back wall is up and sided. Left side is framed. Right now they are working on the right side framing.

Looks good Rodney. I'm going to have a shed built in the spring to put all of my lawn care stuff including our bicycles and my pit bike (moped). I'm sick of that stuff "encroaching" on my race car garage that currently has no race car in it  - AB

I hear ya.... That's the primary reason I'm having this built, to get rid of all the built up crap in the garage! Besides, that little storage shed you see is on it's last legs. I either needed to repair it or demo it. Right now, some of the salvageable wood will be reused to build shelves in the new building. After the building is up, my next money spend is on insulation. That should be fun....not...

Cool, just thought it was odd to cut a hole for the door w/o building the header first.

I've pulled the trigger on having a local company build it. Considering the possible rising prices of lumber after the storm, decided it was best to have it built at a quoted price. It will be a bare bones build, but I'll "mod" the building after it's up and inspected.

So what size is it? Do you mind sharing the ball park price?

BTW, regarding windows, there is a reason I don't have any in my shop, and cost wasn't a factor. People like to look in windows, to find if there is something inside to steal. If you are wanting them for light, they won't be enough. If you want them for ventilation, open the doors and add one of these in the gable:

Having this built thru Cardinal buildings, located out on 70e just south of Garner. All of the reviews I read were positive, so that was a deciding factor. In regard to the size, it's 16'x20'. This is the 2nd largest building they do, just under the 16'x24'. All buildings are based on maximizing 4x8 panels with minimal cutting. As for price, it was $8300 plus $50 engineering fee for the permitting and then the permit itself. I figured I could build it for 6-7k, but the time factor wasn't looking good and dealing with Wake Co in regard to permits was the deal breaker for me.

Windows.... Still contemplating that. Once the building is built and has the final inspection, then I can adjust as I want. Still playing with ideas and seeing what I can pick up cheap in regard to re-purposed stuff. Thinking that's more of a spring project.

So they have wrapped up for the day and all 4 walls are up. That's pretty impressive considering they started at 10, left at 3:30 and installed the flooring and the walls. The building isn't perfect considering my OCD, but I can certainly live with the final results. I can correct a few flaws that I see...

tomorrow they start on the rafters and hopefully some of the roofing. He's not happy I spec'd a 9-12 pitch, but I wanted the room for some future windows for a dormer and storage.

Rodney:

I bought 20 rolls of R13 faced insulation. I think i may only need 15 rolls so if that turns out to be the case I'll sell you the remainder for the contractor price I paid so you can save a few bucks. I'm doing my own insulation since it isn't too bad to do in the fall/winter like it would be in summer.

Also, if you are looking for windows in the end try the Habitat store. They always have windows of various sizes.

Is that for 16" OC? If so, I'm interested in the insulation if you have any left over.

Good thing you clarified that Rodney, because I thought rafters were used on the floor.

Hmm..... I've never seen a 2x4 header, even for a window, much less a double door. Interesting.
