You and Jordan Best should do a work exchange program. He has to do the same thing in his garage. I'm not sure if he is on here, but he does go to some events.

Yeah I have a brad nailer that would have helped with the nailing part.

Ditto. Hell, I have one that I accidentally bought, I'd about give it away.

I bought my brad nailer at HF for like $18, but I'm not as cheap as Rodney. :P

There is that....

If this is a pneumatic nailer, then not much use to me. I'd need a 150ft hose to reach the shop. I'm almost done, 1 more panel to go...

I'm pretty sure I saw electrical outlets in your new shop and a pancake compressor would work just fine for a brad gun.

Small nailers don't use much air. I have used a small air tank (the one I used to take to autocross to adjust tire pressure) plus an air hose to do work like this. I top off the tank as needed from my large compressor in the garage. It's a cheap alternative to a small compressor. Also good if you need to do a small job where there is no power.

Well, I accidentally bought my "spare" at harbor freight for around $20 (must not have been on sale). I'd probably sell if for a 16 oz bottle of pale ale.

This^. I have a 26 gallon compressor in the garage (going to upgrade to a 60 upright soon) and a pancake compressor for small jobs, but the air tank with a brad nailer gets it done every time :) Perfect for this type of stuff or crown molding. - AB

So over the last few days, made some serious headway. Yesterday I was able to wrap up most of the painting, only wall remaining is the back side. Catch that in the spring most likely since no one lives behind me. Got all of the ceiling insulation up along with the ceiling panels. I have to admit, putting this up by myself didn't produce a stellar fitment, but I figure some trim molding over the seams will help out a lot. I was in a bit of a rush because with out the ceiling basically completed, I couldn't have the lights installed. Good news there is I have lights! Man, how nice is that. Now I don't have to plug in my LED spots and move them around to see. Also have my heater installed. Need to buy another romex connector so I can button it up, but I'm in high cotton now, both lights and heat!! Bring on those cold and rainy days, I'm ready for ya now...

Here it is painted. Used the same colors as the house, just switched up the trim colors some.

Image

95% done on the insulation. Only have one more gable end to go...

Image

Here's my commercial wall heater that's been tested. I like this because it of the low heat settings. Can set it to just knock off the chill... Need to install the front grill after I finish up the wiring...

Image

Lights!! What a concept. Just enough to make it nice and bright on the inside...

Well, I've actually come to the end of the first phase of my building where all insulation and electrical wiring/items are installed. I have some paneling installed on the one wall where I plan for storage. Now I'm to the point of having to clear out the old building and sort thru the years of crap and then start to dismantle it in order to reuse the lumber, assuming it's still in decent shape after 15 years. I know some of it I'll have to chunk....

Good to have hit my first milestone...

My neighbor donated it. This happened to be overage from some hotel work in Chapel Hill back in '05. He's had it lying around in his storage shed for years, so he decided to help me out. He also gave me the lights. I've bequeathed life time rights to the power tools in my workshop to him =)

I can get the details of it if you like... This is a commercial unit as all of the controls are hidden behind the front grate. You can use a screwdriver to control it. I figured this was for a hallway or bathroom use at the time...
