That's how high the water got in the shop last night. I think that's a new record. It looks like storm debris clogged the culvert at the end of the block and the water had no place to go. A third of the street is still submerged this morning.

Oh, it had "somewhere" to go :-) Just not where we'd like.

Now I've got a welder to take apart. And a lot of foot wells to shoot.

(Also, it submerged the RV batteries. So those are dead. We should pull the engine cover before it rusts the distributor again.)

Bummer, can we fill some sandbags for you at the next bus day?

The bus would've been fine. We park it on the highest part of the property, and it's a good 2ft off the ground. The trailer, however, would've been swamped. It's just cones that close to the ground, 'tho. (and us rallyx'ers muck those up often enough.)

Note: Rob's truck is parked up there. I cannot see any "dirt line" on it, so I don't know how high the water got over there.

Maybe a craftsman battery here or there, but a few of them are due for replacing anyway. ($100 or so) The Miller welder looks like it was "just high enough" to stay clean, but I'm taking it apart to make sure -- I don't want a 200A arc flash when I turn it on. The feed gun was under water, but it should be easy to clean up. (welding wire is copper jacketed so it won't rust.) The welding gloves are going to be smelly for a while.

No car that was important to us ("me") was damaged. Sure, they all have wet floors, but that's not new. :-) Just remember to change the oil before cranking them.

Also, I should say, the place gets wet a few times a year. We're used to it. But 2 feet, that's a new record.

Guess I show read the forum more often  Yeah the Pathfinder was dry thanks for checking. I saw all the beer cartons outside the bus and figured you were just cleaning up.

Yeah, the office is a mess. We're used to the creek overflowing and getting a few inches of water in the place, but over two feet of water is a lot. I called the city out here to see why the street wasn't draining, and the 18" culvert that the storm drains go to is completely clogged with trash and debris, which explains why the water rose so high. The clog is on private property where the culvert goes under someone else's shop, so the city won't pay for it. I'm going to see how much it will cost and see if the other property owners will split the bill.

Well, there's always dynamite :-) It can't be that super expensive to get a vacuum truck out there. (Mike Rowe even operated one in SF once. See Also: Dirty Jobs.) Crazy Bob covering the Trawick ditch likely didn't help. If anyone looks at the city maps, there's a little blue line across our property (@ Coast to Coast) continuing across the empty lot(s) to Marsh Creek. "Bob" covered it so he drive onto his lot. (the city won't let anyone cross the 2ft green way on Stoneybrook)

And since the water receded, ants. Millions of tiny black ants that swarm over everything. They must have been flooded out of their normal habitat. I've never seen this many ants. I'm going to buy a heavy-duty umbrella for when it starts raining frogs.

After two days, the ants have all left. Now I have hornets. They fly out of the ceiling and hang out on the drop ceiling tiles until I kill them. I killed five of them today. They are tough little bastards; I already broke one flyswatter on them.
