I happened across it somehow and it looked pretty neat. It's a bit pricey for 5+ runs at $85, but you don't have to work and it doesn't start until noon.

It's the day after NCCAR so that might be a bit rough, but it's not like I gotta wake up at the crack of dawn either lol.

I've never done one. I thought a circuitcross was like a long autocross, but if this video that I found on YouTube is representative, then I'm mistaken.

Where's the "cross" part? There's no cones. That's just 90% of a lap.

I agree with Ricky, on top of the fact that running *any* road course the opposite direction of the design leads to real issues if something bad happens. - AB

Actually, patriot can be run in either direction. And CCW is the only way I've run it. (And this weekend, that's how you'll be driving it)

These sorts of events are becoming more popular though as it is a "solo" environment as opposed to an HPDE as cars are launched at intervals that prevent any chance of interaction. There are a couple of groups that run a similar format up at NCCAR.

I've run it both ways and CCW is a lot more fun IMO.

Yeah, it's not really a "Cross" but, honestly it looks like a lot of fun to me. They don't allow any passengers since it's a big higher speed and rollbars are required for convertibles.

I'll probably wind up signing up and checking it out.

I agree for sure. Diving down that corkscrew like section like you do on South course is incredibly fun, and on the opposite end of the course in the very slow turns between the North and South sides, you're going uphill a bit so not as hard to overcook the entry speed plus I never liked that transition going CW from the South side into those turns. My main issue running CCW is the approach to the pit wall...always conservative through there for me, not worth it. However, in this type of event, you'll never run through that section at speed if at all since it's a timed segment.

Years ago (wow, guess it was 12 years or more back now) when the club ran events on Patriot, the ones I went to anyway, we always ran CW.

A friend of mine did one of those at Patriot. He was an autocrosser and he loved it.
