My car hauler (95 dodge ram 1500) is in need of new shocks. Anyone have any suggestions? I can get Rancho's from Summit for about 150 for a set, or Gabriels for about 130 at car quest.

TIA

I put Bilstein on my 96 Ram a few years ago. It make a big difference
much better than stock. They might be a bit more expensive if remember
it was around $200 for the set.

Another vote for Bilsteins on a truck :)

Tokico also makes truck specific shocks that have a very good, but smaller, reputation.

What about Koni reds? The set for your truck would be $280 or so. Or the KYB MonoMax's which would be about $190 or so?

Think I'll try the Rancho rs5000's, if I don't like them, I ebay them and try something else.

FWIW, I've seen at least a couple people on dieselstop complaining that the Ranchos ride too hard, and that they are happier with Bilsteins. I'm putting a set of Bilsteins on the X and am well pleased with them. $260 shipped from shox.com.

I towed with a '97 Raqm 1500 for a while, and when it needed new shocks I bought the most expensive shocks Carquest had. $126 for the entire set of 4!! The truck rode like a dream afterwards. At $126 for 4 shocks, I'll replace them every 30,000 miles!! ;)
