As a mustang fan and marketing person, glad to see Chevy may actually deliver on the promise of reduced weight. Each side obviously has their die hard fans that won't change either way, but glad to see manufacturers taking weight loss seriously.

Yep, I agree, it's pretty tough these days to cut weight too because of everything they stick in cars now.

I can't really talk too much about brand loyalty, we own a Fiesta ST and a Camaro SS, so.... lol.

I was pretty glad to see the new specs on the Camaro though, I think GM made a lot of good improvements. The 5th gen isn't a bad car, and it handles great, but it needed a bit of a diet for sure. Unfortunately the mustang went the wrong direction and now the weights have reversed between the two.

I'll side with the Mustang too. :D Not a fan of the "let's see if we can possibly make visibility worse" design of cars here in 2016 with their beltline approaching the roof, and the Camaro wins that battle. Kudos to them for working on weight loss however -- wonderful news. A for a first in a long time, the next model car is actually smaller than the prior one, although both of the 2015 and 2016 Camaro are still longer and wider than my 4-door E39 M5  .

I'll take a GT350 though since we're taking sides.

The visibility actually isn't that terrible once you get used to it. Proper mirror adjustment is key, i've never had any near accidents caused by the visibility.

Granted, it is a bit better to see better, but it's the price you pay for cool.

Yeah, kind of reminds me of German "pillboxes" in WWII. :(

I have to give GM credit for basing the new Camaro on the smaller, lighter Cadillac ATS chassis. Or more correctly, give GM credit for having the smaller, lighter ATS rear-wheel-drive chassis. I don't think such a thing exists in the Ford inventory.

I saw a few of them at a Chevy display during my vacation last month. Pretty sharp looking!

I've never had a chevy let me down.

I've owned:
1983 GMC High Sierra pickup
1985 Chevy K10 pickup
2005 Colorado
2007 Cobalt
2003 Cavalier
2010 Camaro SS

The first two we're pretty much exception because they were old and not maintained properly, but once I fixed them they were reliable.

The rest were all daily drivers, 2 had over 100k miles before I sold them and the colorado had over 60k. Not a single one had ever left me stuck anywhere. None of them ever went in for warranty work either.

I think as far as Fords go, there's been a load of class action law suits for Fiesta and Focus for transmissions that basically grenade themselves. Honda Civics have blocks that crack and puke all the coolant out. So, they all have their issues so I never really understand anybody who says they'll never buy one brand or the other. They all at some point have major flaws, i've never heard of any one brand that's ever been so reliable that I must buy that brand.

We've owned Hyundai, Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Jeep between my wife and I, all of them have been just fine. No bad experiences with any of them. The dodge did have to get the rear axle rebuilt, but you can't blame dodge for that, they don't make the axle, it was a AAC unit, which Chevy uses also.

I'm at 85k on my GTO with the total repairs being a thermostat and an idler pully.

I think Austin is likely approaching 80k on his Camaro, and he's done nothing at all so far.
