Top Gear became incredibly formulaic and boring after a while. I think I dipped out around Series 15 or so because every episode was less about the cars and WHAT WHACKY, UNREALISTIC SCENARIO IS JEREMY GOING TO FIND HIMSELF IN THIS WEEK!? and screaming POWERRRRRRR at every corner.
Even though they're under a semi-paywall recently, I've been a fan of the Roadkill guys. It's obviously edited and scripted to a bit, but the screw ups and antics feel 100% more genuine. In one episode, Finnegan is making a Chevy 4.3 turbo header and accidentally has the flange in a bad spot once he's done welding. We've all made mistakes like that and it feels genuine because throwing a day's worth of work for a cheap gag feels like it would be incredibly unrealistic.
