I have a battery powered light on my bike that's rated at 3000 lumen and is as bright as any motorcycle headlamp I've seen. Why the heck can't I find a freaking replacement bulb for my outside flood that's more than 1200 lumen? Makes no sense.... I bought a CFL in the shape of the flood light and it's weak sauce. Down side on those is come cold weather, they take forever to brighten up.

Anyone come across some bright exterior lights? I'd like at least 2000 lumen so it lights up the driveway...

I'm using LED's from Lowes that are brighter than the old bulbs.

Which ones? Don't mind spending the money if it's a good product...

Don't know if you still need anything, but I've used 65W CFL bulbs for this. 3500-4000 lumens; they put out a lot of light. They do take some time to ramp up to full brightness when cold, but it doesn't take too long. They generally cost $15-20. I bought one of these at Lowe's a while back and have been very happy with it:

$17 for 3900 lumens; it really lights stuff up. It is relatively large and heavy, so it sticks way out of the fixture, but that doesn't seem to adversely affect anything.

If your a Costco member, they have a good selection of LED flood bulbs at good prices. Some LED's hesitate a few hundredths of a second before they come on, but are full brightness right away. I also prefer the color of the light vs. CFL

It really depends on how much light you want. LED floodlight bulbs generally put out 1000-1500 lumens, and if that's enough, then I'd say buy one. When I put that next to a 65W CFL bulb putting out 3900 lumens; the difference is dramatic. I use one of the 65W bulbs in my 16'x16' shed and it's obnoxiously bright.
