I stopped riding on the street several years ago. I never did any track events nor did I have a bike capable of such events. It was not the thought of being killed on a bike so much as getting permanently disabled, paralyzed etc. that made me shy away.

Well, lucky me, I got my first drop out of the way within the first week of owning my FZ-09...

Right outside the house...

Going 0 mph...

I will never forget to check that the kickstand is all the way down ever again :)

I'm sorry, but that's funny.... can picture the whole thing, and the ensuing "colorful" language.. I hope it didn't get hurt bad.

I went riding with a friend the week he got his first bike and he did the same thing when we stopped at a gas station. What caught my attention was the revving engine as he twisted the throttle trying to save it. As if dropping your new bike trying to put the kickstand down was not enough, he had to announce it to the world. Everyone has to do it at least once :D

If it makes you feel any better, I think we've all done it. My Ninja made it 4 months before I dropped it in the driveway going 0. Luckily, there were no witnesses and I had hard saddle bags on at the time which took the brunt of it.

Yea, it was pretty dumb, but it was definitely funny. Ended up fracturing my elbow and breaking the end of the clutch lever. As an added bonus, I arrive home, and Chad hands me a necklace containing the broken end of my lever! That was very kind of him. (asshole....)

I now wear it around with me wherever I go (usually).
