Get the 3-stage manifold from an E90 330i or N52 powered X5/X3/Z3/530i 3.0 from a junk yard and then the AA tune = 255hp. Definitely find a 6MT one though.

Chuck, do you happen to have a part number for the manifold or at least a pic of what it looks like? The 328 goes out of warranty this fall and this might make driving the car a little more fun.

Turner sells it all together as a kit, and they have the part numbers listed: http://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-176947-n52-330-intake-manifold-software-upgrade-for-128i325i328i528iz4.aspx. If you get the manifold from a junkyard and just buy the Active Autowerke tune (they have an option to specify the 3-stage manifold on their x28i tunes), you can save a lot of money.

Rodney,

Here's a link with a detailed look at the N52 for what it's worth:

Thanks for the pdf link Chuck. That's an odd looking intake, but at least I know what it looks like.

Now, back to Whitney's search thread. Sorry for the hijack... Any luck yet Mike?

Just make sure you have unlimited towing insurance, trip interruption insurance, and medical (for the pills you will need to help deal with frustration). :)

That said, only Mike could have a chance of finding all the answers and parts needed to turn this into a reliable ride at relatively low cost. It will be fun to read the write up if you do it.

You always know what you're getting into with one of these E38s when the owner has stuck some random "V12" emblem on the car...

Look, I'm just trying to be positive. I took they guys baby out of his arms and I am not going to give it back. I want him to find something positive in his life. I guess I could have said if the current career doesn't pan out you would have a great company car for a drug dealer. Is that better?

If you were really trying to be positive, you would have pointed out how many dead hookers will fit in the trunk.

I know it's a BMW and not a Mercedes, but the E38 reminds me of this...

And I would LOVE to have a MB 600 Pullman Limo.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

I thought about checking Google for an answer to that questions, but decided it was best for that to not be in my search history. :)

That V12 emblem was put on there at the factory.
