1. Replacement: A "nicer" car which would replace my 2001 330i daily driver. Needs to be more fun &/or interesting than that car. 4-seats ideal but not mandatory. Budget: $13k ish

Some random things I've perusing on Craigslist:
E46 M3 convertible (always wanted one)
335i convertible (hard to find in my price range)
Early Boxster (may be too soon after the 911)
E38 750il (always wanted a V12)

Folks that like German cars sure seem to use the word interesting a lot. Like, "Hmmm, there's a CEL...that's interesting". Remchak uses that word a lot and now Mike. Where as us non-German car folks would say...."Damnit, another f@cking CEL!!!" or, "I told you not to buy that piece of sh!t". Reminds me of the last Germany car I owned (I really hope David Teague has ditched it by now), a 2000 VW Pissat. One time when I was having Chris Dale at Import Autowerks try to figure out an ever glowing CEL, he made the comment, "Yeah, I don't like working on Honda's, they aren't quirky enough".

I had a VW Rabbit that left me stranded far to many times and the displeasure of working with German engineers a good while before I met Vincent.

Ok a few more ground rules:

- No more V8 swaps (one is enough :))
- No VWs or Audis

Anyone have a G37 sedan? That's looking pretty nice.

Might be just me, but G37 sedan violates the "more interesting" clause of rule #1. If that is how you want go, why not consider adding GTO, G8 GT (GXP version is crazy $$$), 1st gen CTS-V or Lexus GS?

If you want to drive my GTO around you can. It's a huge fat pig but if you plant the throttle it makes you smile and the seats are super comfy.

The Pontiac G8 is the same Chassis as the 5th gen Camaro, most of the parts are interchangeable as well. You have to get a GXP though I think to get an LS series V8. Also, the GXP is the only one available with a TR-6060, the GT only came with an automatic.

I don't think you'll find a GXP anywhere, I found 3 listed on cargurus.com in the US, the cheapest was listed at 25k.

Looks like a G8 is likely out of the picture for sure. GTOs are probably way easier to find though.

You can actually buy a 2010 Camaro 1SS for less than a G8 GXP looks like, the 1SS Camaros are down to around 20k now.

James, he mentioned a small block, so he's probably talking about an older camaro.

They all have small blocks technically, the '98-'02 Camaros had the LS1, but was of course live axle in the back. The 5th gen does in fact have IRS like above along with the LS3. I guess it just depends on what you call a small block, but the LS1 and LS3 qualify as small blocks I think.
