Did someone say 90% depreciation??

And I'm sure most, if not all of these, are automatics. And I've heard bad things about the 4.5l engines, and talk about electronic gizmo overload.....but that's alot of car for $14k

No, its not a practical car by any means, but I didn't find it to be cramped.

Once I have temporary transportation, I will look at a BRZ. I have read some threads that talk about tall drivers fitting, but it's always a question of where your height is (legs or torso). I generally don't have issues with headroom, but rather leg/knee room and being able to operate a clutch without my leg getting really close to or touching the steering wheel (such as any MX-5 I have been in). I really expect to not fit and will be back in a Fit sooner rather than later.

Sorry for the thread hijack... Back to Mike's eventual purchase of a highly depreciated BMW or Mercedes battleship. :D

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

$14.5K? That's a lot of money for a ten year old Camry Solara :P

What goes wrong w/ the 4.5l engines? That's a pretty cool car, I have to admit.

My biggest hangup is that if I'm going to be using an automatic, it better be attached to a gigantic luxury car. An auto in anything droptop just seems unforgivable.

I am all legs, and 6' 5.5". Any NA/NB miata I am totally unable to drive without seats mounted to the floor. The NC is a different beast in terms of leg room. The BRZ is even roomier.

Secondary air injection ports in the heads get clogged up and the only way to fix it most of the time is to pull the heads. Not a fatal flaw, but a major PITA and a majorly expensive job if you have to pay a shop to do it.

I don't have any actual production numbers, but I'm willing to bet that very few of those newer 6ers were sold with manual transmissions, which is a shame now that they've depreciated enough to be affordable.

There are some manual M6's, and their depreciation is amazing as well, but still "only" puts them down around the $30k mark for cars with well under 50k miles. Still pretty dang good for a low mileage car with a V10.

Couple side notes to Mike's shopping excursion:

1.When I drive the 996, I still feel like I'm sneaking around with his wife.

2. Porsche fanbois come out of the wood work and want to touch pp's with you.

Tentatively picking up a black on black 2003 S55 AMG on Monday in Atlanta. Hopefully the deal will go thru and it's not a complete POS.

It's a bit of a fixer-upper but I'm willing to put up with a lot of BS the price ;)

I had one of those behind me one day, kept making the same turns as me too. I was pretty sure I was about to be offed by a drug cartel member or something, lol.

No No No! This thread is too much fun to let it end with a mere purchase!

That's an impressive looking car, and if it were a 2008 or newer model it would qualify for uberBLACK :)

For the asking price I will say yes. What need to be fix doesn’t seem that bad, you will see when you see it in person.
Good luck.

Yeah, you will make money on that. Wonder what other cars he has.

I would check the trunk before you drive off, might be dead hookers he is trying to get out of state.
