Besides a shotgun and dog, has anybody done any of these. Something like this http://simplisafe.com/home-security-shop: I am a firm believer that a little noise will keep the amateurs away and I don't have anything in my house a pro wants!

We have ADT and I'd go with Simplisafe it I had to do over. The equipment is the same, but ADT's monitoring fee is much higher.

All the stuff is wireless now and if you can hook up a WiFi router you can make the DIY security systems work just as easy.

I have CPI and I agree with this, the system was already installed, but I found out its all 2wire hardware you can buy yourself.

The monitoring with CPI is expensive but I also paid nothing for equipment and I lease the house, so it made the most sense.

I would probably go with one of these self install systems if I owned the house.

I have a buddy who did his own and he hasn't had any complaints, he even has it monitored.

Someone in the club has this https://getpiper.com/ . I won't say who because maybe he wants to catch you sneaking into his house and getting caught on the video cameras.

I installed something like this in my Raleigh house: http://www.homesecuritystore.com/alarm- ... ewlsdeluxe?

I was pretty happy with it though it was never really put to the test. I didn't have it monitored as it needed a home phone line for that which I didn't have. But you can get monitoring for any of the systems you purchase at the homesecuritystore.com for $8.95/month. Personally, I think just having an alarm that makes a bunch of noise on intrusion is enough to keep the vast majority of amateurs away, hell, I've read that just having a sticker in the window proclaiming you have an alarm system is enough to keep the amateurs away. It was an easy install and worked fine, though all the sensors are kinda of unsightly.

We use SimpliSafe at the Duff cave. (and a box of crap security cams. As I said to the det., "all this proves is it was human. At least it appears human-like.")

It's time to start looking at home security considering all of the building that's going on in the back of the neighborhood. So I looked at the simply safe website, but I didn't see any cameras w/ their packages. While I'm interested in the alarms and alerting, what I really want is cameras, both inside and out and motion activated. Any recommendations?
