50lbs of boost and 9000rpms -- must be a helluva engine builder/tuner to make this thing survive 300+kph autobahn runs. Some of the dry road night video shows it spinning all four tires until it gets into 4th gear.

Having first been exposed to turbocharging in ~1975 by the late Tom Wyatt (aka Turbo Tom) in Atlanta who was one of the originators of "turbo kits", in this case for Datsun 240Zs, it's amazing how far technology has come. Back in the late 70s having one of Tom's Z-cars with its huge Holley 850 suck-through design, pressurized water injection, Tom-designed log intake manifold, Tom-designed custom cast exhaust manifold, and three-stage NOS with the car weighing in less than 2600lbs was insane.

Impressive, but can it it tow our autocross equipment trailer to and from events like William "Boost" Huneycutts' Colt Turbo?

I had a suck thru turbo system on my old 510 datsun. With a stock exhaust it made 7 - 9 lbs. of boost. But with a 2" exhaust with just a turbo muffler it made 20+ lbs of boost. I ran water injection, timing retard under boost, and rich mixture under boost. It still pinged running Cam 2 race fuel at about 18 lbs of boost. It was fast.

I liked those old 510's. Passed on a chance to by one around 99. Wished I hadn't....

Turbo Tom kit? Tom built some of, if not the, fastest 510s back in the late 70s through 1980s. His "Old Blue" 510 was incredible. I'll hunt the pics I have of the car.
