There's a nice restaurant in the new art building. When you walk into the main entrance, it's right around the corner on the right. There's also 2 more Porsche's on display in the new building, one belonging to rock star Janis Joplin. There's some good write up on the history of the car as well that's worth reading.

That said, not sure what you mean by "fun place to eat". You're not far from Crabtree mall at that point, so there's some interesting places there like Kanki and Cheesecake Factory....

Wrong type of "interesting", Rodney. :P

Lunch places in Raleigh:
- Beasley's Chicken & Honey
- Calavera
- Oak City Meatball (haven't tried it, but it just opened up)
- Centro
- Lilly's Pizza
- Trophy Brewing (they open at 3pm today, noon over the weekend)

Beasley's Chicken and Honey has great food, but the vibe is a bit hipsterish.

A couple of my favorite places downtown are:
The Roast Grill. Old school hot dog lunch counter. http://roastgrill.com/
Battistella's. Excellent food in a New Orleans style restaurant. http://battistellas.com/

I used to go to the Roast Grill when I was at NCSU. Back then they only had coke and the founder would change the toppings on your hotdog if she thought you had a bad combination. I used to go with Harry Nicholos.

We ended up going to Whole Foods, for somebody from Greenville that is an interesting place! Lobster Bisque, Kale Salad, a Hoppyum IPA (for 1.99 no less!) and all the hippie hybrids (I'm not talking cars, I'm talking woman with expensive make up, hair, and diamonds trying to save the planet by driving a Lexus Hybrid), and real hippies you could want. Great people watching, except all the guys that have to walk around in biker pants. Apparently showing your junk makes you ride faster on a bike.

As for the Porsche exhibit. It was ok, one probably looses their gearhead card if they don't attend. I have to say I was underwhelmed.

My favorite part of the exhibit was a picture at the 917 exhibit. It shows Ferry Porsche standing in front of a row of new white 917s. I'm assuming this is at the Stuttgart factory. The building behind him has a bunch of cars parked around in, it gives the appearance that it is parking for employees. You see a VW square back, and a slew of 911's. In the second parking place though is what I think is an Olds Vista Cruiser. That's right, need a real car to transport the frauline and little grand children of Nazi's you've got to go to DETROIT, USA!! Got to figure the little brat in the back seat thinking "golly gee whilickers (that's how kid's in the 60's talked) if I ever work where Daddy does i'm going to make cool cars like this"

I had more fun stopping and looking at a 356 at a car lot on Capital, going in to the place and talking to the guy that did it. It was on it's way to England so I didn't have to hit the 401k atm to buy it. He had a couple in the shop, a 356 matching numbers with a sunroof. Apparently the little manually operated sunroof was a 30k option. He had just gotten in a primered 356 cabrio with a beautiful original leather interior. I'm going to have to think about raising rates so I can get that.

Great fun stepping around the boxer engines and stacks of rear hatches. And I didn't have to lie about my age online to get discounted tickets!
