I've been running zone alarm's firewall and I need to update, but their latest free offering forces you to accept zone alarm as the home page and default search engine bar. I'll not have either of these thank you.... That said, I need a recommendation for a good firewall. I'm willing to pay for a good solution. Any thoughts out there on what's a good choice?

Operating system? Windows has had a built-in firewall starting with XP SP2 I think. Certainly with Vista and 7.

Router? I "think" that a router serves as a firewall.

I stopped using Zone Alarm a long time ago.

FYI we also use Windows Security Essentials for anti-virus and malware protection.
