Gene Miller was a long time THSCC member who unfortunately lost his life to cancer a short while back. He loved autocrossing, track days, and well, pretty much any other chance to drive fast. I'll remember him as the king of fun runs. He was always the first person to ask if we were going to do fun runs and he always took about double the number that we said folks should take. If the autocross VP's said everyone should take 2 fun runs he would do 4. In fact, he was almost always the last run of the day. He loved driving so much that he'd take any chance to get out on course and go fast.
Anyway the reason for this is that, the club recently received a letter and a check from his widow, Susanna Miller. I thought I'd post a copy of the letter here for you folks who weren't at the meeting could have a chance to hear/read it.

Dear Shawn and Tarheel Sports Car Club Members,
As it was Gene's wish I am donating the proceeds from the sale of the RX-7 to the Tarheel Sports Car Club. Blair Stitt bought the car. Alan Chapman bought some rims and tires. Bill Gratton helped me sort the stuff, found the buyers and negotiated the deals for me. Many thanks to all involved.
The thought that Gene had so much fun racing his car and that he made so many wonderful friends has comforted me. Thank you.
Regards,
Susanna Miller.
It makes me proud to be a member of this club when I think of all the positive ways Tarheel has touched peoples lives. Having known Gene it doesn't surprise me that he wanted to give something to the club even after he passed away, he was always generous to a fault and he was a huge supporter of the club.
So on behalf of THSCC I'd like to say a big thanks to Gene and Susanna. And at the next event I plan to celebrate Gene's spirit by taking about 6 fun runs.
Thanks again Gene.
