i sold the mini last week, and took a deposit on the 330i today. once the guy picks it up i'll literally have nothing to drive except max the chump car (not street legal) and my diesel excursion (which is only used for towing). i haven't been car-less since, well, ever. and i have NO idea what i want, it's kind of freaking me out a little bit. m3/4/5? i love em but been there, done that. another integra? cheap and i know them mechanically but not very special. s2000? got a garage at home and covered parking at work, and i do like high revving NA motors. e46 m3? great car but i'd always wish it was a sedan. c5 z06? killer track car, not sure how it does as a DD. boxster? 911? never owned a p-car before, maybe it's time. lexus is300? always liked them - straight six, double wishbones, sharp looks, but manuals very hard to find. s197 coyote mustang? focus st? fiesta st? gti five door? i don't like losing significant money on depreciation, makes a late model car hard to justify. i'm halfway tempted to do a complete 180 and get a buick park avenue with a series 2 3800 - cheap, reliable, super comfy, lots of room, zero temptation to modify or abuse it, lower odds of getting a speeding ticket.

Funny, we're probably selling our IS300 5-sp for a Ford ST in the spring.

I never thought in a million years my wife would want to ditch her Lexus for a Ford.

The ST's are pretty damn cool and you can pick up a new base model in the low 20's out the door. I've driven Keith Vail's and didn't want to give it back.

Just don't buy a Buick.

Do you have a specific price/mileage/year range?

no, if i did that would make my search a lot easier. the worst part is i work directly next door to the ford dealer in downtown durham, and i drove right past a orange focus st on the way in this morning. guess i'm not eating lunch today...

That one's pretty old and abused, you probably don't want that one.

If a MCS is "too small", an S2K will be like trying to slip a size 13 foot into a size 6 shoe. Seriously, the interior of an S2K makes a Miata feel like a cargo van IMO.

Just an observation, not a comparison to the Mini, but I rode as a passenger in an S2K this past weekend. Aaron Delong was driving it, it was black and had a loud exhaust, so I assume it was Zach's? Anyway, the passenger side has the same feel as a Miata with similar width and "headroom" as the Miata, but noticeably more legroom.

yeah but the s2k makes up for its poor utility with rwd, 9k rpm motor, killer transmission, etc. if you're gonna be tiny, be awesome. the mini wasn't (for me).
