I'm surprised nobody else has been talking about this. Although to be fair, it would have been a much easier segment to film had they talked about cops who do NOT speed. Of the LEOs I see on the road, I'd say 1 in 10 follow the speed limit.

It's especially funny that one of the cops they tailed, was speeding to get to the driver training site. When he got out of the car, he was wearing a "DRIVING INSTRUCTOR" t-shirt. :lol:

The best part was the spokesperson's name is Jeff Gordon. I just wish more of them used lights and sirens when they are responding. I've almost been hit a couple times by cops with just there lights on.

I worked with a guy who's sister was killed by a cop in a high-speed chase. The offender rolled through a stop sign, not exactly an offense worthy of public endangerment by the LEO.

The son of the person who cuts my hair is a LEO so I asked him what was their (Wilson Co. Sheriff) policy on high-speed chases. He said it's simple "If you run, we chase you". No caveat on the offense. :stick:

I can't say I'm surprised even a tiny bit by this story. Like you, I think they found the norm, not the exception.

Interesting. Since I've bee listening to Broadcastify and local Raleigh PD, officers are somewhat expected to make hast to an event, but not all events require lights and sirens. I can see it being the norm to go over the speed limit. If I was in need of help, I'd rather they get there sooner than later.

Ahaha, I remember seeing this on the way home since I crossed over the same bridge they were doing one of their timings on.

Rodney, the thing about it is, these drivers were NOT responding to something. One was dropping off some evidence at the SBI. Another was the aforementioned driving instructor, going to instruct I guess. Another one, and I'm not making this up, was on his way to Dunkin' Donuts. I think that's why 20/20 was following them - to see if they were going anywhere that merited breaking the traffic laws they're supposed to be out there enforcing.

I'm late to the party (as usual)....N&O finally picked up on this over the weekend and reported some suspensions. Naturally, their spokesman is Jeff Gordon {facepalm}
