They should open it up to sports cars in general, but no one asked me.

Cool. Maybe we could get a THSCC group to go sometime during the off season, December perhaps?

Remember - it's a timed ticket event. So you need to reserve a time and buy a ticket although museum members get one ticket at no charge.

It would be good to see cars from other marques, but I think that to some degree this is likely pulling from a few select collections of which are Porsche specific. I believe some are from a local guy (can't remember his name, but think he is an ex-GSK executive?) who has a significant Porsche collection and another is from Porsche itself. Porsche has a significant collection and part of that is providing cars for events like this. I visited the Porsche museum when in Germany this summer. It will be interesting to see what that have at this event.

I am going with a non-THSCC friend on 10/19.

I'd be up for a THSCC visit if we can coordinate a date.

You're probably thinking of Bob Ingram. Met him at a PCA DE weekend once- super nice guy, though I think his shoes probably cost more than my car.

Yes, Ingram. His collection is actually housed in a building setup for semi-public viewing and quite often he has PCA groups that get to tour it. I still haven't been, but I've heard it's spectacular.

I used to work with Cam Ingram. I saw a video of him out at Pebble Beach talking about a car he helped to restore.

Found the link:

This also turned up in the search:

Magnus Walker was in town for the event and spent some time in and around RTP plus a trip to VIR. A writeup on his blog...

http://magnuswalker911.blogspot.com/201 ... ip-to.html

The photos in downtown Raleigh were from right outside my building at work. Someone at work saw his car and thought "Interesting, a clone of Magnus' car" and didn't realize until later that it was really him.

I saw Magnus Walker at (Bob Ingram's) Pinehurst Concours last May. Would somebody find him a barber?

I visited the exhibit on Saturday. Given that I am a big Porsche fanatic, its hard for me to gauge how other average motorheads might enjoy a show like that. While the show is about "art", there were a number of relatively rare or important cars there. Cars such as the 1938 Type 64 (actually a reproduction built by Porsche, but a significant car nonetheless), 1962 F1 car (check out the gas tank that wraps around the drivers seat!), 917K (think this might be the car that won LeMans in 1971), 917 16 cylinder prototype (only one exists, and was shipped over from the Porsche factory), 904 prototype (in my opinion, one of the most beautiful of the early racers).

After it was over, I realized I would have liked to have spent more time looking. So I am likely to see if I can try to go back for a second pass. Oh, and I didn't do the audio tour, so I can't speak to how good or bad that is.

And Art, yeah, regarding Magnus, I can't say I am a fan of his personal "style". :)
