I'm thinking of this as a solution for the phone my daughter uses in our remote office in Wisconsin. Clients get very confused getting a call from a strange area code!

No experience with them, but Vonage I had numbers for 3 different area codes so that people could always call me on a "local" number. You can choose which the area code of the primary number which would show up on caller id.

Edit: If you truly need a wireless setup (cellular) you can get any provider these days to give you a number in the area code you choose as long as there are numbers left for that area. - AB

My wife and I use it. Here is my referal link if you decide to got that route. :) We both get a $19 credit.

http://referrals.republicwireless.com/a/clk/1wx9l0

I use WiFi about 90% of the time so it works great for me. An added benefit is that I can't get cell signal in my office, but now I can use my phone over my work WiFi. If you want something that works always with no nonsense, I would avoid it. If you don't mind a few quirks now and then and what to only spend $20ish a month for unlimited data, then go for it.

They are supposed to come out with new phones by the end of the summer/beginning of fall. I have the current phone Motorola Defy XT. It's based on Android 2.3, so it is old by today's standard. Also the phone has a small amount of on board memory which can limit the amount of apps you can use. It overheats when you charge and use GPS at the same time.

In the end, I am saving about $30 a month AND we have smartphones now. For me it is worth some of the quirks. If it were me, I might consider waiting to see what the new phones are or do the $29/mon plan until they come out. If you wan to more, let me know.

Look at that, my Resume in one post.

I work for the company that does RW. I'm on the wholesale side of things so my views into what they do are fairly limited. The new phone is coming out 'soon' and while I know a lot of details about it I can't say much other than it is going to be a nice phone.

Like everyone else we are waiting to see. I'm not sure if I will upgrade or not. It will depend on price and if there are any incentives for current members. In the end I know I am was in beta testing and I will break even in cost this winter compared to our VZ dumb phone plan, so it's been worth it. I just find it irritating how deficient in internal memory the DefyXT is. Plus that fact that a pre-installed app (Google Maps/Navigator) can't even run reliably on the phone (charging or no charging) is ridiculous. Waiting...

New phone and possibly new plan options should be announced today.

I'm amazed that it never got leaked as the company at large knew since May/June and prototypes have been floating around the office for a few months.

And yeah, buy a RW phone. My budget depends on it.

In addition to the Moto X for $299, the Moto G is out now for $149. If you want to save an additional $20 use my referral code.
