Clearly, it was not an error. It was an alternate solution. :sing:

Agreed, and contractors are idiots.

Draftsmen never make errors either.

I just repeat the engineer's errors, and make them look pretty.

Cool! Didn't IGSP only recently move into North? I know 145 and 154 very well.

I'm pretty sure IGSP has had machines in 154 and offices upstairs for quite some time. We have infrastructure in 154 and Fitz East. My office is NB room 109 if you're ever in the building feel free to drop by.

Basically all the machines (about 600 compute nodes + network & storage gear) in NB145 is the Duke Shared Resources Cluster. I was the primary sysadmin for that cluster for 4 years prior to moving to IGSP last summer.

BTW, If you look at the design drawings for Fitz EDC, you'll see my stamp. I designed it prior to coming to Duke - guess that's how I ended up here. We need to hook up for lunch.

Don't think I've ever seen the design drawings. My interaction with FMD & Operations is more along the lines of "ok, we have all these servers, where can we stick them in the datacenter?" and halting computation on the servers to bring heat load down while HVAC maintenance is performed.

Lunch next week? Where are your favorite spots to eat?

As my engineering professors would say, "there is only one right answer(tm)" And if you got there by an "alternate path", your answer was wrong. (that was also why 70% of his students failed. and why he was under academic review every 4 years.)
