Anyone racing sunday? I might go watch for a bit. I am not in 30 mile mtb race shape at the moment.

Might get postponed due to the rain but I don't think we had enough (1/4" or so) to close the trails.

The last lap on South Loop is going to be painful.

Any thought about the BD/NL race this weekend? Will it be on or not due to weather

I'll be posting up later today as to whether we're on or postponing until the 2-24 rain date.

A decent portion is road. I don't think it will be too bad. I seriously considered going.

The road is going to be the recovery in a way, especially based on how rocky New Light is. Right now, BD is closed. Bummer.

I keep forgetting to congratulate Mathew for taking 5th overall.

Nice work!

Have you mountain biking people ever explored the trails around the Danville airport? Granted I'm a runner, so I don't need as much distance to the trails as you bikers do, but I went for a great run there Friday after setup this past week. I have decided I LOVE running on mountain bike trails, its a lot more fun than pounding out miles on the road.

Basically, if you go back past the airport office you eventually find an extension of the Riverwalk trail system from Danville and there are 4 or 5 trails that criss cross it. I've never seen the places you are talking about in this thread, but I run Crabtree all the time, and these were much more nicely maintained (and actually open). Lots of obstacles/bridges/jumps designed specifically for MTB's. Just thought I'd mention it in case you've never explored them. Unfortunately this will be the last event we have in Danville for a while at the beginning of March. I wish I'd have discovered them sooner.

Thanks Marky-Marcus!

Brice, those are the Angler's Ridge trails and although I haven't ridden them, they're supposed to be awesome. They actually do races out there annually and the 6-hr race draws some tough competition from all over. I saw your post about getting a nine miler in (nice work!) and wondered if you ran on those.

I've ridden AR a bunch...it is a great trail system. Not as fast and flowy as Warrior Creek, but still very fun. Some decent climbs here and there, but nothing too brutal, certainly. The "Witchback" trail has the "worst" climbing of the trails over there, but it's still fun, too.

It's worth a road trip for triangle folks looking for something different.
