I thought the road racers and autocross folks alike might be interested in this...
Gwen, Jim Feinberg, Donnie Barnes, Aaron Buckley, and I went to Mooresville last week to check out the new outdoor kart track down there. In short, it's a world class facility and was incredibly fun to drive. It's much nicer than VIR's kart track (and I like that track alot) and the karts are far better. The karts are new 13.5 HP Sodis, which is 50% more than the 9HPs at VIR. As a reference, Rush Hour's karts only have 6.5 HP. We did four sessions and had a blast. It's worth checking out their website.
They are having a 4-hour Enduro on Saturday, February 16th. Info can be found here
http://www.mooresvillemotorplex.com/new ... ?cid=55403They have two divisions, 1) average team weight below 200 pounds, and 2) >200 pounds. So, that's pretty cool.
We've put together two teams of three drivers each and assume we're going to get crushed, as there are a lot of "top shelf" drivers down there but it should be fun. Jim Feinberg has a team. Tim Aro, Reid Allred, and I are teaming up. If nothing else it should provide a lot of seat time and improve our grip strength. Chris P. was signed up on our team, but then something came up, so she can't make it.
We're still hoping to make the Test & Tune in Danville that Sunday, so it should be a great motor sports weekend if the weather cooperates.
The cost is $400 per team, but the seat time you get works works out to the equivalent of $13.33 per session at Rush Hour Karting, but with much faster karts and a huge track, so this is an awesome deal. That doesn't include the 30 minute practice session and five minute qualifying round.
It would be cool to see some other THSCC Teams out there.
