I have a Nokia charger and it mostly works, but I can't recommend it. That said, wireless charging is awesome and I can't wait until stuff like chargers in tables at restaurants becomes a thing.

Anyone on here using Straight Talk AT&T SIM card with a 4G/LTE capable phone? Any issues? (Trying to decide if switching from my current AT&T plan to save ~$5/month is worth any potential hassle.)

Get the mms thing worked out? Mine worked fine from day 1 also. Have you tried searching online for others with the same problem? Community support for ST is pretty good.

I love the official Nexus charger. I also have a "flat" one and it works fine, but the round orb style is just more stylish. I really want one for my car too... hmm, need to see if anyone has done that.

No, I have not gotten the MMS thing worked out, I think I've probably tried 10 different APN settings, and combinations of settings, based on what ST provides and from various info on the interwebs. Very frustrated, but not ready to give up yet.

Also having a couple of other issues which might just be how things are- I have a horrible data signal at the house, it's fine when I connect to Wifi, but off of Wifi, the signal jumps all around and I usually end up getting "you are not connected to a network". I've done a couple of speedtest.net tests and the result is awful around here, but it's very good at my Mom's house and my brother's house, both in N.Raleigh. Something is not set/configured correctly, but no one seems to know what it is.

It's a shame, as I really like the phone, but if I can't get it sorted out soon, it'll be going up FS on Fleabay and I'll have to find something else.

I assume the MMS issues you all are having is related to using an AT&T based SIM. I have not had any problems with MMS via a T-mobile SIM (to be fair, I don't do much MMS, but what little I do works). Granted, the APN settings are different.

Oh, and from what I can tell (short amount of time reading online) the real pain is getting iPhones to work on ST using an AT&T Sim. I don't think the issue is the Nexus phone as much as it is ST + AT&T combo?

I didn't realize until you posted that ST had started supporting LTE. Stuff's getting interesting in the pay as you go arena.

What ATT plan are you on for only $50 a month? I heard about Aio, but it's throttled at 8Mbps...

FamilyTalk Nation 550 with Rollover + unlimited data (me) + 200MB data (wife) + 1000 text (x2) - 24% UNC employee discount = $95 before taxes.

That 24% discount is the only reason I'm still with AT&T. I've looked at Sprint, Verizon, and prepaid plans every year for the last 4-5 years and nothing ever comes up significantly cheaper. I really like the idea of prepaid, so I'm still considering it.

Has the number on your cell phone ever been a landline?

Mine? No.

It's been a cell number with the same carrier (Alltel/Verizon) up until last friday when I ported it to ST.

Well, I've been able to get MMS working. I actually have 2 different APN settings that work, found one online and Whitney sent me the other (thanks Mike!).

But I'm having HORRIBLE reception/signal. I realize that I live in BFE so the signal might not be the greatest, but I spent some time checking the signal today as we were in several different locations around Raleigh.

Sitting in Cameron Village the signal bounced around within a range of ~ -111 to -100 or so. Trying to pull up a facebook page I got a "no connection" error. Driving around downtown Raleigh, the signal was a bit better, but still fluctuated a good bit, the best I think I saw was ~ -87. Sitting here in my house, the signal is anywhere from ~ -111 to -101, though I usually have WiFi turned on so data is not an issue, but call quality is not great to say the least.

I see alot of posts/threads on various forums about similar issues, and the common link seems to be that while some people have lots of problems, many have no problems at all.

I've spoken to ST about it and they say there's no problem on their end, I guess the next thing to do is try to call Google CS and see what they say.

I've used Speedtest.net on this thing several times since I activated it, in various parts of town, and the best I've seen has been ~6800 kbs download and ~1100 kbps up, the worst was ~540kbps and ~71kbps (NOT a typo- these numbers were at my house).

Just feeling a bit frustrated that this is not working better. I understand there are good and bad reception areas, but it seems like my reception is ALOT worse than it should be.

Brett, FWIW, in the rain tonight (have no idea whether that matters), ours is at -105, and doesn't hold a consistent data connection. We're on wifi at home usually though, so I hadn't even noticed. Call quality has been nothing to complain about, and it's frankly no worse than sprint was (i.e. data was unusable at the house). I checked a couple areas in the house and got 3.7-5 Mbps down and 20-80 kbps up. In all ways, however, the overall usage of this phone and service has been no worse and generally better than our Sprint phones were.

As a side note, the inductive charger I mentioned above is working well... haven't used anything else to charge the phone since we got it. It's probably a little slower to charge than the hard wire, and the phone needs to be placed in the right spot, but once that's figured out (has beeps and lights so you know right away) it "just works". No complaints here.

Thanks for the info Dustin.

I guess the best way to decide if it's a problem with the phone, or just a crappy signal, would be to sit next to someone with the exact same setup and compare.
