The Z holds a special place in my heart. I miss my 280z very much. So the new Z with the dials in the places that they are , is really neat to me. Torquey 6 cylinder is how i got my start. Not high revving fwd, that came later. Now, for room I love my wrx sedan. I can haul so many different things in my car, it is funny. I love sedans. But the Z was my sweetheart, that is the car i had in high school, the car i started with. I love Z cars, and I personally saw one hang right with a mazda twin turbo rx7 up the uphill esses at vir. I waved the mazda by, adn a mate in a Z came up, I waved him by too. And got to watch the chase from my sentra. Z cars are cool to me. A 350z would be plenty to me, a 370 with a oil cooler fitted, would be a awesome track car. My old Z had a open rear end, the wrx has a open front. Open diff is what kept me out of a mini, i could not find a supercharged mini with a lsd in my price range. So I went subie, but a neighbor of mine, has a Z roadster. He comes by the house of his folks sometimes with it, very cool car. Just for riding around and occasionally playing with.. I think it would be a fun car to me, But I am biased to old Z cars. The z3 bmw is a nice car, real nice. I like my fathers car alot. But it is more of a street cruiser than a race car .

I Finally got to pick up my car Sunday. Then I got the heck out of the Northeast before it closed due to hurricane. I'm happy to report that so far I'm pretty smitten with the car. :)

This was taken at my first pitstop on the MA Turnpike.

I didn't have much chance to take many pictures since I was in a hurry and it raining most of the time. I had to stop for a picture in front of this hotel in Winchester VA. It would have been a really cool picture if I'd had my real camera unfortunately all you get is a crappy cell phone pic.

It's kinda sad. The car had 1420 miles on it when I picked it up Sunday morning, now 28 hours later it has 2240 on it. I drove the car almost as much in 2 days as the previous owner did in 3 months.

Nothing sad about it being ready for some bouncing off the revlimiter in Danville! 8)

Congrats Shawn!! Is it too soon to ask what your classing plans are.. CS, STX?

i will be doing some autocross in the bmw, once it runs again. And maybe one more run in the subaru to finish off brices tires.Since I believe the deal was, one free autocross for setup at the street survival. That may drag me out of the woods one more time.

Shawn-

Looks good!

I just got a muffler delete (straight pipe) if you want to hear/try it. Saves about 20 lbs. I'm still torn about classing. I want to run STX, but every time I price the parts to do it right I think, "Geez, that's a family vacation." A week of family time vs 10 min/year of autocross fun. It really is hard to justify. If we start applying a "Tire" factor to our street tire class, it makes the decision that much harder :) Last event I would have done quite well with a 0.975 factor added to my CS index.

On the other hand, PAX sucks, and if I go STX then maybe I could beat an S2000?

I haven't really decided yet. I'm still in post-purchase afterglow mode :D

I'd love to try this car on sticky tires but running on good streets is tempting, either in stock or tire. I probably won't be doing a STX build anytime soon so if I ran STX it would be under prepared.

What? Afterglow already? Are you some type of ricer?

You should at least drive the thing before you start modding it.

e: just tried to find a BRz with underbody neons... nobody's done it yet. :O

Almost everyone's ST* car is underprepped in some way, so don't let that deter you. Unlike used Hoosiers there is residual value in used ST parts, so just buy as you go along. Although TIR/RT classing is quite appealing, so I can understand your dilemma.

Shawn,

Given Sandy's flooding and tree damage you may have saved the car from the crusher!

Glad you made it home safely.

Why mod a brand new almost state of the art sports car other than to not need Hoosiers?

Dick
