Not sure whats going on in THSCC this year but it seems to be the year of the accident. I was going South on Hwy 55 bypass, by where the land fill is, I got distracted by a cop pointing a laser at me and hit a jersey barrier, The Doctor says I'm fine but my right shoulder and arm are really getting stiff and sore. At least I didn't do the Tarheel thing and break my back.

Assuming the doors still open and close and there aren't any body ripples on panels that are behind the firewall I'd say it is repairable. It's a Civic, parts are plentiful and cheep. The paint is pretty much straight solid color so the respray/match shouldn't be terrible.

Glad to hear you're just sore and not broken.

Oh shit! Man, Shawn, glad you're OK! So, is the car totaled? That looks to be a ton of front end damage. If the car is done, and you don't find a replacement, you're more than welcome to drive the stang. BTW, nice driving this year and winning TIR! Nothing I can do to catch you this year.

So, since the cop was the distraction, how does that come into play from an insurance standpoint? At least the cop was there to help you out, or at least I assume he helped you.

Dood, not cool. Glad you're ok, at least you have a little while to get better before our next event.

We're gonna need you for NCAC though, so you gotta either get that thing fixed soon or find a co-drive :). Get on it!

Shawn,

I'm so sorry man I know that must have hurt on multiple levels. We're here for you if you need anything and I hope your shoulder gets better soon. It's just a car, and you'll either get it fixed or get another, but I'm sorry you had to go through all that mess and just glad it wasn't worse that it was/is.

Hope you get better and we'll be thinking about you for sure. Once I get my bumper put on this week on the RX8 you are welcome to drive that as well!

Noah

Damn dude, sorry to hear it, but glad you didn't break anything. Hopefully your sore shoulder won't turn into anything worse. I assume you had some air bag action? Car looks bad, but if its totaled that just give you an excuse to upgrade. :D

Seriously though, this THSCC car crashing needs to end, my mom always said that bad things happen in 3s, but this makes at least 4 if I'm not missing something else.

I wonder if your shoulder is from the seat belt. I had quite a bruse from the belt in my work truck and the airbags on mine never deployed.

Thanks for all the warm thoughts and offers to help, etc!

+1000 Never been in an accident before and I don't want to ever do it again. Glad the car had airbags and the barrier had the crush zone on the end of it. 20 or 30 years ago this accident probably would have killed or at least seriously injured me.

Not sure how it impacts insurance, etc. He didn't give me a ticket. I'm guessing, that in the end I'm still responsible for not running my car into things no matter whats going on outside the car. The cop did help out and was pretty decent about it.

Thanks again everyone. Keep it safe out there!

That blows! Glad you're ok. Did you take a pic of the barrier?

Glad you're okay man! That's a heck of a hit Shawn, good luck with the fix and if you need a co-drive for Fayetteville you've got one.
