I am looking for a lawyer in the Marysville, TN area to help with a moving violation.
If anyone has a recommendation I would appreciate the contact information either on the board or Private Message.

Let's just say I received a "Certificate of Velocity".
I should have gone to AutoX instead. :x

That's all the detail I'm going to share on the interwebs.

Thanks
Chris

Speed trap at the top of the foothills parkway, I assume...

Spectacularly fun road. Been there twice on 2 wheels. Not sure how I avoided tickets on my last 2 outings...

Well, it seems with my insurance company, one ticket in over 7 years does not effect my rates.
I think it best to pay the fine and keep my speed in check.

Most states don't "report" speeding tickets to your home state unless it's over a certain speed. Call the local clerk of court to see what they say.

I'm not sure that's true at all any more. I think a few years ago the feds made them link up all moving violations. I'd assume everything comes back on you unless you can verify otherwise.

And I'd be shocked if it's better to just pay the fine than to bother with the lawyer and have as much done as you can, anyway. Even if it's just reduced to 9 over, it's usually worth the couple hundred extra bucks just for the insurance against *another* one later. But of course, YMMV.

That's what you get for having a Nissan Leaf; it's just too damn fast.

(I went up to Deals Gap this weekend and HAULED ASS home; no tickets!)

Well that stinks, it's a shame we can't speed like we want to in other states.

Ask Bowie for his attorney's name. He helped me understand what would and would not be counted in NC for an out-of-state ticket.

In my case, he pointed me to the NC statute that indicated the DMV would not assign points for my out-of-state ticket. However, I was not so sure my insurance co wouldn't assign insurance points if they got wind, so I hired a lawyer to get it reduced. Dad helped me pick the lawyer out of his Martindale-Hubbell directory. You might be able to do the same from the Martindale website: http://www.martindale.com/

My last ticket was in South Carolina not too long ago. NC would get the information but not hit me with points, my insurance was going to go up. I called four of the seven lawyers who sent letters and got almost the same information. I picked one form that group, met with him the morning of the summons date, went to court later and came out clean. Seems that when the traffic officer's nick name is "pusher" and he is well known the lawyer has an easy task. Hope your goes as well.

Depends on the speed, this is mandated and not up to the insurance company. It can also cause a larger surcharge if you get something else. You also don't know how it will translate from the Tennesse infraction to the NC DMV report. I had my license suspended because FL could not properly communicate with NC.

I would call the DA in the county and see if they have any options. A lot of time they just want the money and will let you plead to something like a city infraction that does not get to the DMV.

This was not legal advise as I do not have a license to practice law
