I talked to Bernie yesterday shortly after the accident. He was at Summit instructing and was with Debbie.

He was at the hospital last night with Colin, Debbie and Sean. Colin is in good spirits, very positive, and stable. Now the pain meds have kicked in... Sean gave everyone the basics here so no need to say more except that our prayers go out to Colin and the family. According to Bernie, I think they have decided to have the surgery there rather than transport him 6 hours to Raleigh. Moving him in this situation is probably not wise.

Bernie said they had to cut Colin out of the car by cutting off the roof. I think they also cut the seat out to remove him due to the back injury. Bernie was helping Sean load the car on the trailer yesterday evening when I spoke with him. I think the safety equipment did it's job well. Hitting the wall head on at about a buck 30 is gonna do some damage no matter what you do.

I truly understand just how bad this sucks and you will be in my thoughts my friend. Colin I know you won't read this before something is done but I can highly recommend my Dr and Tom has his contact info if you can get to him. I am also curious just how this is even possible in a prepped race car? I was only wearing a stock three point harness.

Good to see you on the Forums Les!

Best wishes for a smooth recovery Colin. Sunday's weather did not treat THSCC kindly. :(

The surgery is being postponed until first thing tomorrow morning. His legs have been getting stronger all day and pain seems to be improving as well. While Colin has not posted anything he was reading the thread earlier on his phone and said how grateful to have your support.

It happened in the first session Sunday, the track was a bit damp the only spots I noticed standing water was turn 1 just before turn in and track left at turn 10 braking zone.

could the moderator possibly move this bead seat discussion to a new thread so that we can keep up with Colin's progress on this thread?

Thanks.

I heard from Debbie this evening. Colin is moving his legs better this evening than this morning, and is scheduled for surgery in the morning. Please continue all of the positive thoughts and prayers.

I just talked with Sean, and everything is looking good for the surgery this morning. Focus positive thought up to Winchester, VA. It looks like Colin will be staying in the Winchester hospital through the initial recovery and PT stages, which is estimated to be around 11 days.

If any THSCCers want to come up and visit, I'll open my house for free hotelling. While I'm not super close (about 1.5 hrs from Winchester), it's certainly better than making the round trip in one day. I can easily accommodate 3, assuming no beds are shared. I can handle more with creativity. PM me if there is any interest.

Focusing positive thought as we speak, best wishes Colin. And when Tom says "some" can be handled creatively in his house, he means a complete army battalion.
