Sorry to hear that Les, nothing some hardware and rehab can't fix! You have my prayers!
Hope to see you back on course soon!

Les is doing much better today. He's walking around and was able to sit up in a chair for a little while. Those are huge accomplishments this quickly. I don't think he's ready for visitors yet. He is still not sleeping well, which is no surprise, and most of his awake time is spent with the physical therapists and the medical staff.

Yup, I see Jason beat me to the punch. Les did indeed walk around today. It's my understanding he'll be ready for visitors come Sunday afternoon. This is great news!!

Holy crap! I just saw this. I'm glad to hear that the surgery went well and that he is starting to recover. I'm still going to keep him in my prayers as he still has a LONG recovery ahead of him.

Thank you to everybody for the updates.

Thanks for all the thoughts/concerns/prayers folks. My first word of advise is that when you look at your tires and say "damn, I should really probably replace those" do it sooner rather than later. That thought had gone through my head just a day before this happened and they weren't bald, just right at the wear bars, that is worn enough.

They have rebuild my spine with much titanium so I may indeed be "the six million dollar man and the six million dollar corvette" but that is far from my mind at the moment. They told me I had the best neurosurgeon in the hospital and I believe it, my back actually feels pretty damn good considering what I put it through just a week ago and I have been able to stand up and walk about a bit, but I just finally got out of ICU and into my own room last night and am still dealing with other unpleasant complications and would prefer not have too many visitors until I can get some other things worked out a little better. I have family and close friends near by so don't worry, I just need to rest and do PT and get some things worked out. Maybe in a couple more days I'll be up for some more visitors. I will have a long road to full recovery and will definitely accept some support (food) in the near future, right now I'd just like to actually be able to eat some food. :) As for the sponge baths, I'll take a pass, your a funny guy Marcus McRae.

Sorry I couldn't get over there sooner. I've been at work this weekend but I'm off tomorrow. I'll be there at 0800 with bucket, sponge, and orbital buffer.

Hahahaha...he said "orbital buffer."

Thanks for checking in here, Les. We're all thinking about you, buddy. Get well soon!

The best advice I can give is when they send you home, make yourself a PT schedule and STICK TO IT. Do it all and do it well. And if you don't like your PT folks, find some more to try. Visit them as often as your insurance will allow, and more if you can afford it out of pocket. It's *so* important for your long term recovery...

I spent some time with Les on Saturday and Sunday, and he is continuing to improve. As witnessed in this thread, he is now armed with laptop, he'll keep us up to date with progress.

Oh, and no...I did not give him a sponge bath.
