Our bmw e30 325is, (yes the old black bmw) had its first breath since the engine swap. She misses a bit on one cylinder, but she ran today, started up with a little coaxing from my wrx, and breathed its first breath today. Good things may await, like a autocross or two this year, and maybe more next year from the Guthrie team. 8) Which means only one thing.. We need more e30 autocross cars!

my father installed a different water pump on her today.. because the two years cars, are different water pump outlets.. aggrivating but no biggie.. whatever.. we are getting closer to getting it ready for autocross. We may have Performance Chassis do the tires that we want, or maybe we will do it.. I dont know yet.. But I do know we are getting ever closer to being ready, we just have to iron out the miss in the engine.. and do tires, 8)

How much DOES a wrecker cost, anyway? (oops, mixing E30 stories.... will leave this for Bernie or Colin to answer)

I was snidely referring to the E30 that hit a wrecker during the NASA event Saturday.

In that case you'll have to ask NASA what VIR is going to charge for the wrecker. Or perhaps the E-30 driver who now has a wrecked E30 and a wrecker to pay for?? Luckily VIR has a policy of placing another vehicle between their personel and racing surface when their on track doing hot pulls....should have used a surplus abrams tank rather than their spare wrecker.... :(

I was talking with Colin O'Connell as we were watching the owner of the wrecked E30 drain fuel out of the car. Colin said that the driver of another (less damaged or undamaged) E30 had been blamed for instigating the wreck and was going to be liable for the damage to the wrecker.

It now runs on all 6.. Moves on its own, has a little valve noise we hope to cure, but is ready to go. We will go as soon as the tires are mounted right. I may get outside help, since 50 series tires are a bear to mount. 8) Anyone coming out to cars and coffee? I am going because testing for TKD is just down the street at the convention center.
