This guy at work just told me about "Cars & Coffee". The first Saturday of every month people with Exotic cars go up to Brier Creek (near the old UNO's) about 8:30am until about 10am to show off their cars. He said there are also a bunch of S2000's that go. Anyways, thought I would post in case anyone was interested in going to explore. It will be there tomorrow morning.

I've been a couple times. Definitely some cool cars to check out if you've never been.

It's fun to go around and ask people about their car (e.g. "what mods have you done to this bad boy?"), let them talk enthusiastically for 5 minutes straight, then ask them if they race and listen to their excuses and how they "will be doing some track days very soon, just haven't had time yet." They usually don't know what autocross is.

I've been to that - there are some Ferraris and Lamborghinis, usually, and a bunch of other high-$ stuff. The coolest thing I saw was a 196X Corvette open-top race car. Second coolest was the AMX Javelin. Or maybe it was a Gremlin?

I'll be at Sandblast Rally tomorrow morning.

Not a bad way to possibly get a few more people interested in Autocross and the club.

You should have been to the Lambo track day up at VIR-N a couple of years ago. I was running on South course and at lunch went over to check out the hardware. Most of those cars cost more than my house, but I watched as a guy in MCS was lapping all of them like they were sitting still!

i am freinds, with the man that is in charge of the triangle italian motor enthusiasts club. if not for sandblast.. i would go to in my wrx. always fun, sometimes i meet freinds. One of my subaru freinds lives near brier creek, he has a forester setup for straight line racing. Anyway, if you have never been you owe it to yourself to go.

Remember the guy who hit the guardrail a few months ago after Cars and Coffee and then showed up at L'burg the next day I think with a friend with the plan to learn how to drive? (I saw the spin/hit in my mirror). Reminded me of the time I ALMOST went over an steep embankment with a loooooong drop in the hills near San Francisco in my 69 Mustang after a 100 degree spin . . in traffic. That close call turned into serious motivation to learn how to drive. I started entering autocrosses and the rest is "history". (well ancient history by now. ).

I think I'll go to one of these once I get my truck outfitted with a ridiculously huge subwoofer, rally lights, and an "I heart puppies" bumper sticker. That's considered exotic, right?

corvette zr1 427 beating a gtr.. both on really sticky street tires.. but the corvette beats the nissan by 1 second.
ive gotta think its by being far lighter and better balanced. remember the 427 lump is all aluminum.

The FFR cobra replica group meets that same Sat on Creedmoor and usually goes over to BC around 10:00. I've handed out many many THSCC cards there, and haven't seen anyone new at our events. There are a few who show up there who have done DEs and/or AutoX, but most are (fill in the blank) with very pretty cars.
Peace,

Apparently they heard about Maria :P

I went to one a couple of years ago at the suggestion of a friend who planned to defend his "best 996/997 Porsche" trophy from the previous fall. I got there and took one look at the all of the buffing and shining going on, and decided I had to call Shultz. He didn't answer my call, but a moment later he tapped me on the shoulder.

Yes, Karl won the Honda class that day.

The friend who invited me was pretty grumpy when his spotless Turbo S Cab lost out to a GT3 that will never turn a wheel in anger.

Hmmm... Perhaps a non-fruitbearing idea, but would anyone be interested in going to a Cars & Coffee this spring to distribute the remaining THSCC business cards? If we had about 10-15 of our autocross cars in Briar Creek early enough we could group together.

Any interest? 9:00am to 10:30ish and stay as long as you want?
