So based on some issues from last night, I've decided to press forward w/ buying a new (brand) car. Since I now have the Miata at the bottom of my driveway with ignition problems, I'm looking for a new DD. Once I find a new toy, my red Passport will be for sale, so stay tuned for that.

I'm looking for suggestions from this crowd, but right now I'm focused on 2 cars. I'm considering either a 2012 Mazda2 w/ the Touring package and no sunroof or a 2012 Fiat 500 w/ no no sunroof. In regard to the Fiat, which of these models came w/ the turbo?

I know the weak points on the Mazda2. What do I need to look out for in regard to the Fiat?

The Fiat is on the SCCA exclusion list. Rollover potential fyi.

Hyundai veloster? Looks cool, seems to have good but not great stats...although a turbo version is coming out soon.

Fiat will suck the life out of you.

You could do what Keith did and drive a car like the Fit (Mazda 2 sounds about the same) and tow an F125 kart with it.

Mazda all day long. Go drive the Mazda 2 if you haven't already, it's a fun little car even with an auto trans.

My good friend the commutes a lot from Rocky Mount got one for the fuel economy and how easy it is to drive. Plus, STF pax! I don't read the SCCA updates as often but I don't even think you can autocross the Fiat (yet), but the Fit is okay which seems taller.

I sort of like the red as it looks like that same shade on the NC Miata.

I actually am in the market for a car, just figured I could poke fun at Rodney while doing it.

I have driven the 2 before and it is beyond slow, but if you toss it into a corner the tires just scream "FEED ME!!!" I was talking with James Short earlier about some car buying advice and unfortunately the color that I want... there is only one of.. in a 300 mile radius: in Virginia. Anybody have experience buying a car out of state and bringing it home?

On Saturday I'm going to go test drive both the Fiat 500 and Mazda2 (again), and I'll probably buy the following week.

From a dealer its easy-peasy. We bought the Excursion in Georgia, the Bullitt in Pennsylvania and the Fusion in Virginia. All over the phone - all sight unseen.

you get a temp plate from the dealer, they file your title docs with your home state and you pay the taxes of the state you reside in. bought a SAV in TN, NC DMV sent me a tag. painless.

Come take my Sonic and you'll forget all about that wimpy Mazda 2.

The hitch with the Sonic is wheel and tire packages. My LTZ is saddled with 17x6.5 wheels. LT models can chose from a 15x6 or 16x6 wheel. Lots more choices for race wheels.

Sadly, the ultralight 17" Cruze ECO forged wheels (17.8lbs) are 17x7.

Why are you trying to get out of your Sonic so quickly?

lol, it's not for sale. Simply offering you a drive.

It's made in America by Americans! At least try one out.
