Great, now I see how to do it!

After hearing a pretty apparent "bearing noise" on Sony's Cavalier I decided it had to be the P/S pump. So I got another one, replaced it, and duh....that wasn't it. I figured I needed someone who was more mechanically intelliegent than I to take a look at it so I asked Randy Melton to stop by.

After listening to it guess what he asked for to help him in finding the problem? The exact same pry bar Kevin is holding to his ear in that photo. He used it in the same manner to find out it was a bearing problem, on the IDLER pulley, not the P/S one.

That's my luck I guess. Spending all Friday morning fixing something that ain't broke only to log on here today and see what I needed to fix it.
:furious:

Making this thread informational instead of funny:

You can buy a very cool stethoscope with a metal probe on the end to listen to bearings and things. Last time I was at Sears I saw one there. They are _very_ useful.

"Trusty funnel hose.. don't fail me now!!"

-or-

"I can't believe I'm sticking this in my ear. Again."

-or-

"Vulcan mind melding will require a transparent hose, because this is a foreign car."

:D
