Does anyone play iRacing? I got a subscription about a week ago, and am really liking it so far. Works very well with my Logitech G27 setup. I highly recommend it for anyone with a PC and wheel, as it gives the best online competition I've found in any sim software. The graphics and physics are fairly realistic, too.

So far I've been competing in the MX-5 Cup series and just started the Spec Racer Ford & Solstice series. Really fun. Oh, did I mention they have all 6 configurations of VIR???

If you sign up, use me as your referral, zach@xak.us and I'll buy you a beer! Hope to see some Tarheelers online soon.

I'm fairly big into it. I have had a blast with the SM and Mustang in iRacing. The track selection and clean/competitive racing is awesome!

Fanatec Wheel works for me with the Club Sport Pedals.

I have been on iRacing for a cople of years, off and on. I like the SkpBarber F2000, the SRF and SM cars. iIRC there may be enough Tarheelers for a closed hosted series, but I don't know how to do that.

Jason, forget the single big monitor. i use 3 27" monitors in a 135 degree configuration and it is really good. Almost got motion sick a couple times during one of my many spins

I want to, but I refuse to buy a PC just for a damned game. If only they had a Mac client... *sigh*

I went to Tom's Hardware and looked at the $500 budget gaming pc builds. Spec'd something similar except the video card. iRacing needs more cpu than graphics but otherwise it works just fine. I run full res w/o shadows and the display can handle 60fps.

ATI 5850 if you want 3+ display. (Which would be super sweet) Right now I just race with one but use the look left and right buttons often.

Spending time learning VIR Grand East for chump next year...

Core i7 with ATi 5870. A third display port adapter is required, but cheap to come by. check out the iRacing forums for additional setup ideas. More on AMD Eyefinity can be found here

Two times now I've built PCs pretty much just for gaming, and two times they get played a couple times and ignored. I get sick of the massive updates and required reboots to apply them, all the bullshit I have to turn off over and over, and the general stupidity that is anything Microsoft. There just hasn't been a game made yet that's worth the pain.

1. Windows sucks, but iRacing will probably never have a Mac or Linux client, :( so we are forced to deal with it.
2. My "gaming rig" is several years old, doesn't play iRacing on max graphics, but is quite playable at lower quality (Athlon64 X2, 2GB DDR1, NVIDIA GTX260). It also hasn't had its OS updated in ages, and I've disabled all the auto update notifications. Works like a charm!
3. For me, the competitiveness, online rankings/safety rating, real tracks, decent physics, and constant presence of people to race with online makes this the best racing sim experience I've found (I have tried LFS, GT5, rFactor).

Scott, I sent you a friend request on iRacing. Hope to see you and Steven in some MX-5 Cup races sometime. ;)

Zach, you need to get out of R status, like now. Racing in SM with rookies does nothing but ruin my already suspect safety rating! I got 3 incidents and one crash last night because some rookie was driving like a fool and another pair left their crashed cars in the racing line at the top of the hill at Lime Rock...sigh.

Working on it. It takes 3-4 good races to bump up my rating up as much as one bad race dings it with n00bs crashing into me... Plus, the "promotion date" isn't til January 30th! :(

Edit: SM = Star Mazda?
