In the not too distant past I would hear a car with squealing brakes and assume it's some ignorant fool that neglects their car and compromises their safety and the safety of those around them.

Now if I hear a car with brakes that squeal (other than my own), I look around for someone I know...

Scott

PS: Matt, those Panther+ pads sure do make a racket and dust a lot when I daily drive them.

Amen to that! I ran the Panther+'s at VIR in February and they rocked. However I got lazy when I got home and waited about three weeks before swapping my PFCM ones back on. I had to turn the radio up just so the squeal wouldn't drive me crazy.

They were great on the track, but too difficult to modulate on the street IMO. Not to mention that annoying racket. For me they aren't a combo pad, but that's not what I got 'em for. :)

Interesting. I thought the Panther + was pretty quiet.
Now the Hawk HP+ had the Miata sounding like a train pulling into the station.

Miata w/ XP8 in the front, Panther + in the rear, pulling in to my driveway...

SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

They work just fine on the street, but stealthy they aren't.

I liked the sound of the P+, it covers up the sound of my exhaust nicely. That plus it was fun going through security at work and see the agonized look on the guards' faces.

Oh my! I'm one to stand most sqealing + exhaust noises, but the sound of XP8s all around on my WRX during one lap was killing me. They were squeaking not only when stopping, but also *ever so slightly* on the transits as well.

They kicked ass on track of course :-)

The purchase of the race car that was NEVER legal for street use in this country has solved any of my squeaking brake pads on the street issues. But the Radical is so light it takes 3(!!) laps to get enough heat in the rear brake pads to get them to stop squeaking on track. And I don't mean three warm up laps, I mean a pace lap where all I did was brake to warm them up, and then two laps at "as fast as I can go" pace. Hearing your brakes squeal as you brake for T1 at VIR on my 2nd flying lap was a little, well, unsettleing.

Matt,

"Sounds" like you need a different compound for the rear and, therefore, probably for the front also so the balance doesn't change.
