Suddenlink has apparently dropped my favorite channel, where else can I find it?

Nevermind, they still have it listed as HD Theater, crisis averted.

You dope, you didn't read your mail where Suddenlink shuffled their entire channel lineup, starting today

http://suddenlink.com/television/lineup.php

Its now channel 201 :stick:

Hey... I need both your honest opinions about Suddenlink.

I've been a VERY loyal and vocal supporter of DishNetwork, but they are REALLY dropping the ball lately, enough so that I'm considering going back to cable once my commitment is up.

I need info on:
HD quality, selection (Speed, Discover, Science, BBC-A, the aforementioned HD Theatre, FX, AMC?, Comedy Central... to name the main ones.... all of which DN has either moved from one satellite to another, dropped the HD signal altogether, or I've never had it at all.)

DVR functionality... this is a MAJOR factor with me and my TV viewing habits.

Multi-room capabilities? Dual HD tuners? Record two, watch a third (already recorded)? Etc. Etc.

Thanks!!

I made the mistake of looking for Velocity TV on that sheet they sent, they still have it listed as HD Theatre. I am just to hip for my own good.

We have two DVR's his and hers. Best thing we ever did for our marriage. You can record two at a time( on each seperate dvr) . I THINK you can watch something that has previously been recorded while that is going on but you can't watch a live program while recording two others. I will check with wife about that.

I think quality is excellent very little trouble good customer service if you have a problem. Everytime I drop a remote and destroy it I just go get a new one (just don't go on 3rd of the month)

Suddenlink has all those channels as HD. Click the link I posted for Cline, Page 2 has all the HD channels in one group.

Its the only DVR I have ever used but it works fine for us. Suddenlink has now introduced a TiVo box
http://www.suddenlink.com/tivo/

Looks pretty cool

No dual tuners unless that's a TiVO option.

Yes, you can watch something previously recorded while recording 2 other shows.

I have DN also and all of the above is true if you have two DVRs. Again, I'm pretty sure I watch more TV than anyone on this forum so I'm sort of an expert on TV watching.

That's just it... DishNetwork has all those channels too... but they are scattered across FIVE different satellites, and lately have been moving around... and since I've only got signal on three of the five, I'm losing channels (mainly HD signals)

NICE! That's what I'm looking for, cause the DishNetwork DVR is basically a carbon copy of the TiVO system (I think there may have even been a lawsuit at one point.)

This might just be a deal maker (I'm already on the high-speed internet deal)

If you can record two at the same time, then you've got two tuners. I just want to be able to access ONE list of recorded programming for both tuners (not two separate boxes/remotes)

Thanks for the info guys!!

OK... so I'm making the switch back to cable today.

I'm getting the TiVo package from Suddenlink + phone + internet... all for about $25 less than what I was paying in total for basic phone + DishNetwork (Century Link) + cable internet.

I should end up with all the HD channels I've been missing, plus a TiVo for each of my two TV's, plus unlimited long distance phone... which doesn't mean much, but it means we can now call family in Ral/Dur without having to use the cell phone.

This is what happens when you take loyal customers for granted.

OK... so... after a week with Suddenlink TiVo...

I'm ready to NOT cancel my DishNetwork.

Maybe my expectations were unrealistic... maybe we haven't given it enough time... but I don't like it, and the wife HATES it.

While it seems to have many of the features we like, it is very un-intuitive to use. The menus are overly complicated. It seems to have removed some redundancy in exchange for overly complicated menus and a very un-natural feeling remote (this probably has more to do with time of use, but still.)

Anyway... they said I had 30 days... so I guess I'll play hardass and give Dish a chance to make my HD channels right before just canceling everything.

Check to see if you have options for the DVR. With TWC you can (could) get a motorolla (menus stink) or scientific Atlantic (better).

Ours are scientific Atlantic as well I believe and I'm ok with them.
