A couple of friends of mine want to buy an RV together as they are BIG tailgaters at ECU. Thats pretty much all they would use it for. Me on the other hand could see it being a track taj mahal (I want to be Whitney when I grow up)

1. I have seen some old piece of crap pulling a trailer with a race car, any thoughts

It is 1988 Fleetwood with 56k on it that's about all I know about it.

Yeah, 'cause nothing could go wrong with a 23 year old RV that would leave you stranded on the side of the road. Like, say, on the way home from VIR.

Do like you do when you get car envy. Goto a new RV dealer and it should pass.

Cline,

2 words to describe a 22 year old large RV which has been "sitting around" for most of its life.

Maintenance. Lots!

FYI.

Cline,
Get an F350 and an enclosed trailer big enough for the car plus about six feet if it's a gooseneck and twelve feet if it's a tag. I've got everything that we need for a family of three (Kevin is busy with college) to camp in the trailer: two cars, heat, A/C, three air mattresses, tables, reclining chairs, a grille, cooler (looking at a mini-fridge), a couple of ez-ups, tools, eight extra tires/wheels, spare parts/brake pads/fluids, five gas cans, 20' of indoor/outdoor carpeting (makes VIR camping pretty nice) and a boatload of other junk. 25,000# combined road weight, but I have gone a little overboard. Basically, It's homey enough that Debbie likes to come to the track with us. You don't need no stinking motorhome, you can't even get half that stuff in a roach-coach with beds.

This fits in any driveway (HOA be damned)

The big white house. its got the door right there on the side... you guys must be blind.

You should really consider adding some windows... I thought all houses came with windows in this day and age.

Back away from the checkbook, Cline. Slowly, slowly... I've done plenty of research on RVs, as when I will probably buy one when I retire.

- Old RVs - run away unless you plan to restore all the vehicle mechanical bits and the "house" bits. As someone else said...vehicles that sit deteriorate just sitting.
- Lots of RVs don't tow well because of the overhang of the body over the chassis. You can fix that (somewhat) with bracing from the chassis, but that's a less than optimal situation.

I figure Donnie will show up in this thread soon, since he probably has more actual hand on experience with this stuff than most anyone.
