Eric is the guy there you usually deal with. They are a reputable firm. Recently Ed Holloway sold his E92 M3 to them (low mileage, 2011), and they bought it sight unseen after talking to him via bank wire that afternoon (wholesale price of course) and had it picked up the next week. The flip side of working with EAG is that they set prices on BMWs they sell at what most would consider "above market" since they (supposedly) fix anything they can find wrong with a car prior to selling it, and then stand behind it. For the most part, from what I've seen and heard, there is no negotiation in pricing. They just price a car and let it stay on the market. If it's still there after a few months, perhaps they become willing to talk price.
A car like that isn't going to stay on the market long. Received an automated response from them. We'll see what happens on Monday in regard to pricing. If I drop you're name, will they know who you are? Have you dealt w/ EAG before?
Eric should know my name as I interacted with him about Ed's car, and then I also had a lot of communication with him over a 2010 E90 M3 they had for sale just recently. I was ready to close the deal and at some discount off their asking price after they already told me they don't deal. One question killed the deal: what were the paint meter results for the car? He replied about 5 min later that he had just metered the car and the hood had been repainted, the original owner they bought it from didn't say anything about it, and there was no sign of any damage ever done. My first reaction was that it very well could have been repainted by BMW at the port op center due to paint damage. In any event, the fact that he didn't disclose it prior was disturbing to me as I simply didn't believe he went out and metered the car only after I asked? I can't imagine they don't meter every car they receive right away.
In any event I do think they are very good to deal with from all the transactions M5board members have done with them. They have a good rep and many repeat customers. You have a good idea of all the E46 stuff that should be up to snuff -- thrust bushings, rear trailing arm bushings, passenger side airbag seat sensor, window regulators, valve cover gasket, etc, and it's just approaching the time/mileage where replacing the water pump, expansion tank, thermostat and hoses makes sense.
