Rodney,
I was just thinking...(this could be bad) I know a guy who works in service (he's an autocrosser) at Mini of Charleston who is selling his stock DS Mini. Still interested? I'll get you his #. Actually don't know if he's sold it yet or not. He was trying to get us interested in it so that we could stay in DS for the Finale.

The shame is, I saw a great DD for Rodney yesterday. Passed it on NC 147 in front of the DBAP .. in the rain. A pea-green six-window 1959 Sedan deVille like this:

I had a thunderbird w/ a 351 cleveland. That motor rocked and the car was a true hybrid. Burned both gas and tires.

Sure, I'm interested, but if it has the sunroof, I can't get the car. Thanks for thinking of me Gwen.

Rodney,

Was it just the hood paint issue that Carmax wouldn't work with you on?

Yes. Our opinions differed greatly in regard to what was acceptable for consumer resale. I was very surprised they weren't willing to respray the hood. I really wanted to keep that car considering it took me weeks to find that configuration, but I found that one, I'll find another one. Also looking for a non sunroof e46 330 as well. I guess which ever one shows up first I'll buy.

I apologize for hijacking Rodney's THREAD OF WOE again, but the Ford Elite (it was not a "Torino Elite", it was an "Elite") was a breakthrough car for its era. And I'm not talking about the hole the mouse chewed in the padded vinyl roof of this example, but the fact that it had four (FOUR, 4, IV, 2x2) porthole windows. That feature alone demoralized GM and Chrysler so badly that they re-based their 1980 product lines on frumpy X-Cars and K-Cars.

About 4 years ago my cousin offered me his Elite. Though the interior was in excellent shape -no doubt due to the superior Naugas used in Elite upholstery - and the exterior was in decent shape, it had been sitting unused behind his storage shed for quite a while, so I took a pass. He eventually found someone to give him 3 or 4 thousand for it, so there is a market for '70s excess :)

The mini I returned to Carmin is now for sale again at the Raleigh location. Just wanted to let you know if you're interested in buying a fine mini

Thanks for the offer Jason, but I have driven one. Was able to drive Nelson's 09 mini up at Danville and had a blast in the car. Right now I'm just looking to find either a mini or 330 configured the way I want it. It think which ever comes up first I'll buy, but not holding my breath for anything soon.

I had this (notch back), I was told it was a 351 cleveland. Needed a valve job about every 10k. People kept on hitting me in it, that's why I got into insurance. I knew what adjusters did. Image
