Raise your hand if you think this is all academic because Rodney will end up with yet another German car.

Why is it so much fun spending other people's money?!

Is splitting a set of r-comps with Jordan, co-driving with him, and getting a comfortable daily driver (i.e. non-autocross worthy car) an option?

Golf was given to my oldest son to replace the Paseo. Allowed a father/son bonding weekend as I showed him how to drive a straight. Had some "entertaining" moments, like when we stopped rush hour traffic on Capitol, always a laugh....

Says he enjoys driving the car, the manual adds a fun factor to driving, as it should. The hatch gives him some utility. I thought that golf was a great looking little car and was fun to drive.

Well, there's that damn sunroof issue again. While Jordan can fit in the car w/ a helmet, I can't

An RS America with a true 16k miles and proper provenance would likely sell for $50k at auction I would think. This is probably a salvage title car that was pieced back together or something. In any event, it's not far from the truth that buying an older Porsche is the cheapest part about the experience of owning it.

I'm sorry, but I was LOL at the people that poo-pooed that "deal" because of the extra maintenance costs. When I looked at it I was like "uh, that's either a screwed up ad or an attempted scam." That would be WAY too good of a deal otherwise.

It was sort of analogous to me to the folks that say they don't want to win the lottery because of all the taxes they'd have to pay.

I miss that one, there is something wrong with that RS America... As to the reliability of the newer Porsche do some search on RMS and IMS you will see. Here something different but still German.....

bmw. great DD sedan and good auto x er. i like bmws alot from my father and my own 325i experience. e30 325is and eta. so the eta has no power, so what it handled well and rode great.
wrx rides rough, but is really crazy good for 4 cylinders and 3k lbs. especially for a car up high riding.. dirt snow ice mud grass gravel anything.. it can take it. sti can hang with almost anything on the road today. very good . gto or mustang i have no experience.. i am a camaro and corvette guy. but the 2005 sti and 6l gto went head to head in inside line video. 14 second quarter in both cars.. totally different cars.. wow.. very competitive. 30 mpg and 14 second quarter.hmmm
anyhow.. i like all cars.. just up to you.
