Yeah, I've gotten some funny looks when I tell people my Civic is my 'racecar'.

Stock WRX vs. a 5.0 Coyote? How is that a contest?

Stock 09 WRX 12.9, stock 5.0 low 13s

The guy who initially set the 12.9 (on OE Dunlop SP01 Sports) on a stock 09 WRX has since got into the 12.8x range.

Obviously the 5.0 has a higher trap speed.

I thought Rodney's priority was like 80% daily driver, 20% autocross. WRX fits the bill there, reasonably fun but not competitive. If it's the other way around, I agree, WRX isn't the right choice. But neither is the 330.

^ this....

The white e36 is fun in its current trim.... on course. Having this as a daily driver is getting frustrating. Guess I'm getting old, but falling into the seats and the rough ride is loosing it's appeal. Looking more for a DD over an autox car. I like the 330 e46, always thought it was a great looking car.

This is where my focus lies for right now, but finding the combo I want is damn near impossible. The mini may be the fall back. As I said, finding a car w/ enough head room w/ a helmet is my issue. I know I fit into the 330 sans sunroof.

12.8 with a true stock car.

I'll bet you aren't "that guy" so I'd like to see *you* beat Mike's 5.0 in a drag race in a stock WRX.

Nope, not taking a 5speed Subaru to a drag strip :).

The conversation stemmed from when I test drove the 2011 GT, the seat of the pants dyno felt like the WRX and the numbers I found out there confirmed it.

I've often found the published The 1/4 miles times are hard for the average driver to duplicate.

BTW, driving Mikes '11 GT at VIR was sooooo much more fun for a "test drive" in my case.

Conversely, the 09 WRX was listed at 13.4 at ~100mph. And then this 62 year old guy takes a stock one on junky UHP tires and puts down a 12.9 @ 103 :).

Anyway, in case you guys missed it, I drove Rodney's Mustang after the STX mods and I have to say I had a boat load of fun. No more Stang hate from me :).

I'm keeping going back to this. Just very confusing to me. Is Kendra the Bimmer or the Subie?

Having a comfortable DD that is "fun" to autox is unpossible.

I'd guess Kendra is the S2000 and doesn't need constant work/money like a Bimmer/mistress.

And now we've come full circle and we're back to MINI. Go full soft on the shocks during the week and back to setup on the weekends. :sing:

Rodney,

Head room with a helmet is NOT an issue with my autocross car.

Leg room on the other hand may be an issue.

Dick
Old enough that daily driver comfort is a primary concern. (assuming you define Mustang GT as "comfortable" like I do)

I liked my 07 GT in regard to V8 noise, ride, leg room, head room, the color control on the dash for the lights and ease to work on. That interior started to wear on me and it was a heavy beast to throw around. Overall, a very fun and capable car.

If I could get Chuck to sell me his 330, I'd be set, but I think he's saving that for a very deserving Jackie. Now if Jackie would just have second thoughts on wanting the car, then maybe I could steal it away from Chuck :D
