You go on your court appearance day....point is that you don't go into a court room in front of a 'judge'. It's just a room where the ADA handles all these traffic offenses.
There is a chance he might not allow a continuance, but I think that's slim. I think Maria told me that in Durham's courthouse, "If your pants aren't hanging off your ass, you don't smell like beer, you aren't *obviously* high or drunk, you'll probably make it out ok"
