Didn’t know if any was interested in this, but there is a vintage BMW show this weekend up in Winston-Salem. I’m heading up w/ the wife on Saturday to check it out. Info is located here….

Planning on going with my wife too, not sure what time though and if it rains, we'll stay home. This event moved from the last 3 years where it was held at vineyards (and called Vintage at the Vineyard). Last year's event had somewhere near 300 cars with some incredible examples of rare BMWs (Alpina B7 turbos, 3.0CSL, etc). Not sure how it will work out in downtown W-S, but it's a great bunch of car crazies for sure.

Would be cool to see an old Bimmer where the CEL was a vacuum tube that glowed when things were busted :).

Don't joke, IIRC, the mid-70's 3 and 5 series cars had a "catalyst" warning light that was in a separate pod smack dab in the middle of the top of the dashboard and when it started to light up, the common fix was to take the bulb out.

Anyone got any pics of this event today??

I was busy doing professional jackleg electrical work in our basement, and chasing cows in the rain.......not at the same time though, thankfully.

I took a few pics but nothing like last year where I probably have 100+. At the vineyard in past years, it was really nicely laid out in sections: 2002s, E3/E9, E21, E24, E28, E30 and within those groups, subgroupings of E30 M3s, Alpinas, E28 M5s, E24 M6s, etc... Hence it was a great environment to interact with other owners of your car, see all of each type of car in one place, etc.

At Winston yesterday, other than the E24s (Southeast Sharkfest meet was there) all together, the rest were spread out along the streets in a haphazard fashion. Very disappointing. I think there was probably a record number of E28 M5s there yesterday, but they were spread all out, so it was hard to tell.

I did have a chance to catch up with Ray Korman who I've not talked to in years. He had a 1972 Bavaria his shop is just finishing restoring there, and it looked incredible. I know every nut and bolt on that car, so it was really nice to see such a nice one again. I reminded Ray that it was 30 years ago this weekend that I did my 2nd track event. He had offered to tow the Bavaria up to Mid-Ohio if I'd let him drive it in instructor's sessions, so on the 2nd weekend after we got married, my wife and I were off to Mid-Ohio. Fortunately Ray was driving when we went through the 2-lane sections of I-75 as a truck came across the center line, and he did a masterful job of avoiding the wreck and then recovering from massive tail swapping that ensued.

Nope, not a part of this gathering. In past years someone had a WWII era bike on display, but there is no beemer coordination with "The Vintage" folks.

VK doesn't need to break their hearts, I thought was a standard feature on all BMW's
