James, if you only have to pay $900 dollars to get your street paved, consider yourself lucky ... even before the great recession, Durham had a 100+ year average repaving schedule. If you can have your street paved this year, you're set for life!

My advice to you to is to shop estate sales until you find a 1984 Olds Delta 88 with nice tall 215-75/15 tires. Drop the air pressure to about 26 lbs all around, and just ignore the pavement problems.

I can't agree more, though if you have to sacrifice a car to bad roads, which not a GM? That said, most of those are now equipped with 22" or larger wheels. So my new recommendation for comfortable motoring is the 1979 Chrysler Cordoba - tire size" 205/75-15.

Hey now!!! My parents had one of those when I was kid. With the corinthian leather.

My favorite part of the car was that it would continue to run for 5-10 minutes after the key was removed and we had long gone inside.

From Corinth, Michigan. One of the greatest marketing spins in history!

1975 Chrysler Cordoba commercial...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIL3fbGbU2o

After watching that commercial, I want one! Chrysler just needs an updated version of that commercial, but using the Dos Equis guy.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.
