See the picture I posted on the first page ;).

And even there, there are many that consider the first series 911, the long hood ( pre 1974 ) the one...

With that being said I will not mind having a Boxster, a 968, a 928, a 914, a Carrera GTS Cabriolet, a Carrera GT, a GT3 RS 4.0, a Panamera, and after trying the 996 Turbo, a 996 or 997 Turbo.
Being realistic, probably only one of the first 4 listed.

the Cayman platform is said to handle better than a 911. which many believe is the reason Porsche doesn't give it more hp than it has. the 2010 and up got a hp bump with direct injection and there is a Cayman R also these days. http://www.porsche.com/usa/models/cayma ... r/gallery/

That is by design and I personally feel it fails miserably in the execution of SUVs and sedans. While the Cayenne is merely butt ugly, the Panamera makes me want to gouge out my eyes, its an abomination. I'll never forget the day Tom Freeman and I were at Foreign Cars Italia in Greensboro right after the Panamera was released and the sales guy was very enthusiastic about the ones they had in the showroom, Tom's first question was "So, is that thing as butt ass ugly in person as it is in pictures?", the salesman nearly swallowed his own tongue and was clearly very uncomfortable afterward, that was hilarious.

that's awesome. i read the GRM article a few days ago and it made me want a late 80s 911 even more, although i have to admit it doesn't make any sense. too slow to be a great track car, too crude to be a great street car. but they have a certain purity that's strangely appealing.

...and apparently a real LSD, although there's some debate about that --honestly, it's a little vague as I'll never have the scratch to afford one. But, I think Chuck B had a great link to a forum discussion about that issue in the past few months. Me likey Boxster Spyder a lot, as well as almost all real and quasi-real Porsches (993 turbo, please!) but once a car gets over about $35k I lose interest pretty quick. Why punish myself, you know?

993 turbo is a real Pcar! I just want an NA 993 Carrera RS :).

I think Chucks link was for a GT3 RS LSD. Nothing was wrong with it other than it's weak ramp angles and pathetic friction discs :). Matt Monson rebuilt it for him pretty aggressively though :).

Dammit - what are cell phone video cameras good for if people refuse to use them?

Hahaha.

I still say the Panamera is horrible in pictures and actually almost passable in person. In fact, in person to me it looks a lot like the absolute best interpretation you could do of a C6 given another set of doors. Very similar front end lines to me for some reason. And no, I don't see that in pictures. It's so strange how different that particular car looks between pics and the real thing. Neither is exactly stunning, though.

I think Porsche was trying to prove a point with the Panamera. Fanboys will buy ANYTHING if it has the porsche name on it. Now Honda is trying the same thing with the crosstour

It isn't a 911 and it isn't air cooled.

Edit...and I say that will tongue firmly planted in cheek. I am _not_ one of those purists.

You disqualified from this thread. You bought a 944 from somebody in Williamston, NC therefore proving you have zero judgement skills regarding pcars. That is all.

you should read the recent revue in MotorTrend. apparently it is a well sorted beast. $164K sort of limits its production numbers i'm sure.

Yeah, it was this link: http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/gt3-gt2-gt/192286-lsd-buster.html

Guard Transmission seems to have a great reputation for building nice LSDs that will last for Porsches -- nothing like dropping $120k for a GT3RS and then wasting its LSD after a few track events...that part is pretty much priceless entertainment. Gives you a warm fuzzy feeling about the car I'm sure. :D
