You people don't understand. The government and big business are here to make our lives better. If they feel that collecting this kind of data will enable them to do that, you shouldn't question it. Questioning it is un-American. Are you all Taliban sympathizers? Somebody should keep an eye on this group.

Yeah, what he said. Big Business wants to market to us every where we go so we never have a moment when we don't have some company selling us something. And government, they could track you down and know where you are so they could make sure you are on their side.

Or you could turn your phone off.......

You know, when I was in 10th grade in 1974 we had to read 1984. The thought that the stuff in there would ever be remotely true was simply something people joked about back then. We're getting pretty close here in 2011...stuff like Chicago having now installed 10,000 video cameras to watch the population and perhaps be doing facial recognition, tracking, etc, who knows...

Again, this is all OK. If it means we catch a terrorist or two before they blow up the Sears (or whatever its called now) Tower or before they blow up a crowd of people at Grant Park, then a little bit of government watchfullness is good. Actually what is probably better is to put it out to bid to a private company which due to the bid process and competition would both drive the cost down and allow the system to be installed in most major cities a lot quicker and much less expensively. The cameras could be linked together in a master database so if a suspect showed up in Chicago, then went to Indy and NYC and Boston etc he would be recognized and then tracked. Its all good and if you are not wanted for anything and just minding your own business what is the problem?

What's even scarier is that when I was in college there was a company there working on a DoD grant on some software that could take a picture of a head at a 10* to 170* angle and generate a front on headshot on it to compare to a database. The stated purpose of it was to put cameras in airports and check everyone that passes through against a database. When I graduated it was getting scary accurate for a pretty good range of pictures.

It's all well and good that the government collects a ton of data. Until some political wackjob gets all spun up on something and we all get locked up for being loyalists^W traitors^W communists^W terrorists because we buy too much brake fluid for our cars.

It's all a scam so politicians can funnel money into the companies they get contributions from. Instead of thinking about the children we need to think about the terrorists now. Fueled by lowest common denominator media making sure they tell us how your toothbrush may be killing you! stay tuned to find out how after 3 other news stories. Amazing we all survived riding around our neighborhoods with our bike helmets hitting each other with sticks. Maybe one of these days I'll be a rich old guy who can use his company to manipulate public law to make him even more money. I doubt it though since the whole system is designed to keep the rich rich and poor poor while providing the illusion that the American dream is an obtainable thing.

I'm too damn jaded to only be 27.

Helmets? I never wore one and I rode my bike to and from school about 5 miles each way at age 12. We had a trampoline without (GASP!) padding or a huge net around it too. How did any of us ever survive?

Sorry that should have been a without, I guess too much head trauma from falling off my bike. I only took my bike to school sometimes, I usually had to walk the mile there. Then we had to stand in line, outside, behind our classroom's number for the bell to ring. Man, what cruelty.

You guys do understand that we have protections/safety products/recommendations like those because (GASP!) kids DO get hurt... right? Just cause you didn't, doesn't mean others didn't.
