Plate was...

RS6 LOTR

When I was working the solutions the best one originally didn't make sense to me and then the connection to Audi hit me! :D

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

Now I don't drive. I get that one, Lord of the rings, nope. Furthermore, kind of proud I don't. Guess the generation gap is appearing in our little club.

So you are saying LOTR which was published in 1954 was after your time?

I'm 27 and I didn't get it till I dumped the plate into Google. Then I remembered about that German ring.

You could also relate it to Audi's emblem. Four interlocking rings.

That is what I took it to be. I immediately thought that LOTR was Lord of the Rings, but I was thinking "No that can't be it as what is the connection between LOTR and cars?" and then the Audi rings hit me. I thought it was clever.

PS: Frodo lives!

This. Anyone has to be able appreciate or be impressed with the fact that Tolkein wrote a VERY comprehensive history of a 100% made up world and, as a linguist, devised a completely new language with spellings, grammar, punctuation etc. Even if you don't like the sub stories (LOTR or the Hobbit etc), it's still damn impressive in my opinion.

FWIW, I'm right there with you Cline. Thankfully I had no idea what "LOTR" meant as well.

My all time favorite plate was spotted on a 911 at VIR last year. It said:

///MEH

:lol:
