got 7 right and missed questions 7&9. Some of those were just a lucky guess. So where the hell is the part about driving? No wonder peopled suck at driving, too busy calculating points if they do something wrong....

I actually got 9/9 apparently I'm a great driver. Yeah, it would be nice if the NC driver test actually asked question about driving, I guess that is too much to ask.

Is this 9 question test for renewal or new license?

When I moved here 15 years ago to get an NC license you took the written test of 20 questions. You had to get 16 right as I recall. They were about actual traffic situations. With a couple of DWI bits thrown in.

Renewals were the road sign and vision test.

Do I need to go study the statistics guide now and take a written test for renewal?

I renewed last Fall. Eye test and "signs" test. STUDY the signs including the "shapes" since some of the questions show just the shape and color.

If you don't wait until the last minute, take advantage of their appointment system (call ahead!) but it might take a week or so before an available date and convenient time. I showed up 5 or 10 minutes early for my appointment and waited maybe 10 minutes. The "lobby" and "outer lobby" were full of the same people when I left as there were when I came in. I went to the NE Durham office.

For comercial drivers license it is not bad. However if you have Hazmat endorsement then you get to take the 100 question Hazmat test each time. This last time I let my Hazmat drop because I also needed to have a background check with fingerprints taken at the sheriff's office for another $90. So unlike Arlo there is still no folder in washington with a study in black and white of my fingerprints.
