hey all,

well, im going to vegas march 18-20th. i havnt flew in a while, but last i remembered flights werent expensive as can be. i guess gas has to do with it.

My flight out there isnt an issue, from RDU to LAS is $159

but the flight back is almost 4-500. im guessing because its a sunday?

ive tried the one way technique, ive tried the multiple airline technique, and ive even looked at flights that may lay over in RDU for a cheaper price, and flights to surrounding cities.

I dont HAVE to be back on sunday, i dont work mondays, so i could stay in a cheap motel sudnay night and catch a cheaper flight on monday. but that would be a last resort.

i dont have any airline miles because i dont travel a lot.

anyone have any ideas on how i can find a less expensive trip to/from vegas?

The cheapest ive found (as far as i can remember from the past few days) is $480 or so. OR is this an average price for a flights? i remember flying to new york for about $120 round trip.

Thanks
K

If your room arrangements are flexible, you might want to shoot Malia a note - she's looking at doing a Travel Agents Conference in Vegas in Feb and it was $500ish INCLUDING 3 nights of room - so a package deal might be better overall if it's an option.

also if you are booking online, shop a bunch of sites, including expedia, orbitz, southwest, kayak etc. sometimes they know that you are shopping and their computer adusts accordingly. Remember to account for bag fees and stuff. I know what you mean, the flight I booked to Chicago earlier this month was $89, booked the day before and the return was $233, booked 4 days before. It must take more gas to fly north than south....

well the room is pretty much taken care of, a couple of us friends are splitting a suite.so the room/dates are set. but $500 is a heck of a deal.

if im spending that much, i might as well do a package deal, and somehow talk the hotel into giving me a raincheck on the room stay

Rob, I think i'll just pack a carry on so I dont have to worry about fee's. unless i manage to get on southwest or another airline that doesnt charge. but it looks like southwest is one of the more expensive airlines at the moment.

i might as well book my one way, find a cheap beater for sale and drive back on sunday/monday. and use it here in Raleigh. or if anyones looking to ship a car from vegas, i can do it!!!

I don't fly that frequently, but I am guessing the problem is the timing of your return flight. Play around with that date to see if you can find a cheap return.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.
